The Story Bridge turns 80 this week… but Story Bridge Hotel was here first.

For almost 100 years, this corner of Kangaroo Point has been a place where Brisbane locals have come together.

When construction of the bridge began in 1936, the original plans would have seen the hotel demolished. But after workers protested against losing their local pub, the plans were changed, and the hotel remained.

A little piece of Brisbane history, still standing today.
