This was South Brisbane in 1985. Stanley Street stretching west past The Ship Inn, long before South Bank became the precinct we know today.

Before it reaches the plate, it starts here.

This is John, owner of The Ship Inn, out on the farm.

Farming runs deep in the family. John was raised on a sheep and cattle property in south-west Queensland, and today that connection to the land continues through Boonara, where livestock is raised with care, patience and a genuine respect for the produce.

A lot of what we do at The Ship Inn comes back to that simple idea: know where your food comes from, support good farming, and let quality produce do the talking.

That farm-to-table connection has become a big part of who we are, from the lamb we’re known for through to the broader protein program across the menu.

Family farm. Family-owned pub. Good produce, handled properly.

And sometimes the story behind the plate starts with a quad bike, a paddock and a very well-worn hat.

From their paddock to our plate. 🥩

We’re incredibly proud to be working with Damien and Virginia from Barambah Creek Beef a Queensland family farm producing 100% grass fed beef with regenerative farming, healthy landscapes and low stress animal handling at the heart of what they do.

Our new Barambah Creek Beef Short Ribs are slow cooked, glazed in our house Italian gravy and served with chips and salad.

This is a proper farm to plate collaboration, and you’ll be seeing plenty more from The Ship Inn and Barambah Creek Beef.
