PLAN AHEAD: TRAFFIC CHAOS EXPECTED
Brisbane's drivers have been told to plan for up to 10 nights of closures on the Riverside Expressway over the next three weeks.

An RACQ spokesperson said the delays are due to a 60-tonne steel structure being moved into position as works on the Queen's Wharf development pick up speed.

From tomorrow, the southbound lanes between Tank and Alice streets will be closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9pm to 5am, with one Sunday night closure on May 16.

Big change coming to one of Brisbane's busiest bridges 🚙🚗🚙🚙

Victoria Bridge will permanently close to general traffic this Sunday, Brisbane City Council says.

INFO: http://bit.ly/3sBuLxT

Council has been planning to close the Victoria Bridge to general traffic since early 2016.

General traffic includes all non-public transport vehicles, including private cars, motorcycles, commercial coaches, taxis, and rideshare vehicles.

The bridge will still carry buses in the bus lanes, and footpaths will remain open to pedestrians, cyclists and other footpath users. Access for emergency vehicles across Victoria Bridge will remain.

The closure will be to vehicles travelling in the two general traffic lanes between the intersection of Melbourne Street and Grey Street in South Brisbane, across to the intersection of William St and North Quay in the CBD. This includes access between Melbourne Street and the Stanley Street tunnel beside QPAC. Access in and out of these carparks is still available via Peel St and Grey St intersection.

Council says the closure will allow "both the Brisbane Metro project and the CityLink Cycleway trial to be built, which will increase the capacity of both public and active transport to and from the city centre".
