Brisbane winter has a way of making you to stay in all weekend. Good thing there’s a reason not to run out of coffee at home.

This week’s guest roaster is Kindred, in from Nicaragua, Colombia and Kenya. Four coffees, each one speaking its own character in a different way, from the everyday retail bags to a couple of limited feature ones that won’t stick around long.

Latte art looks easy when you watch a barista do it. The truth? There’s more to it than you think. Here’s a breakdown of what actually makes it work.

Silky, microfoam is the foundation of latte art. Too bubbly or too watery, and no design will hold. Get this right first.

Before you pour, swirl your milk and tap the jug to pop large bubbles. A smooth, even base is what gives your design something to sit on.

Start your pour dead center of the cup. Off-center pours throw off the whole design before you’ve even begun.

The sharper the line between white foam and dark espresso, the cleaner your design looks. This comes from milk texture and pour height working together.

Every pattern has a rhythm. When to wiggle, when to push forward, when to lift. Learning to read these cues turns a blob into a rosetta.

A balanced design comes down to consistent speed and angle throughout your pour. Slow down, stay steady, and let the milk do the work.

Our first-ever popup kicked off this Thursday, June 18th, IN THE HEART OF BRISBANE CITY! 🤯🤭 To be honest, we had no idea what to expect...

This was a whole new challenge for us. We decided to introduce our in-house baked pastries, cookies, and our rotating batch brew to Brisbane. 🥐☕️

Moving our cafe setup wasn’t an easy task, but a huge shoutout to@brisbanecity for this cute Dine BNE counter! 🙌✨

Here’s a quick BTS look at how we brought that HIDEOUT energy to a whole new crowd.⚡️
👨‍🍳 Tony was non-stop baking (so busy he couldn’t even look at the camera!).
⚙️ Eddie precision-cleaning the grinder right before the rush.
☕️ Luke pumping out that delicious batch brew.

And wow, we met so many lovely, curious people.

It was amazing watching everyone try our special croissants, cookies, and tasting our batch brew. 🫶

The day honestly flew by in what felt like seconds.

Pushing our boundaries and breaking the routine gave us the best kind of fresh energy. 🔋✨

To be honest, we had no idea what to expect..
