📣 WE’RE HIRING – PASTRY CHEF / CAKE DECORATOR 🎂🍰

Gourmet Cakes & Platters – Sandgate

Our kitchen is growing and we’re looking for another creative pair of hands to work alongside our current pastry chef.

We’re looking for someone who loves creating food that looks every bit as good as it tastes!

The role will include:
🍰 Creating delicious desserts, cakes and slices to keep our café cake fridge stocked
✨ Bringing fresh and exciting dessert ideas to the kitchen
🍓 Platter preparation and construction
🧁 Assisting with custom cake and catering orders
🧹 Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient workspace

We’d love someone who has:
⭐ Cake decorating and/or pastry experience
⭐ Excellent attention to detail
⭐ A strong eye for presentation
⭐ Creativity and confidence to bring new ideas to the table
⭐ The ability to work both independently and alongside our pastry chef
⭐ Pride in producing consistently beautiful, high-quality food

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety. One day you might be decorating a celebration cake, the next creating a new cheesecake for our fridge, then building a gorgeous catering platter.

Looking for a special afternoon of creativity?

🎂 Well… that was one for the books!

We were recently asked to create a cake measuring an incredible 1 metre long and ½ metre wide… and we couldn’t wait to say YES! 🤩

It was one of the biggest cakes we’ve ever made, and watching it come together from the first mix to the final decoration was an adventure all on its own. Every centimetre was handcrafted with the same care and attention we put into every cake that leaves our kitchen.

Big cakes bring big smiles, and this one certainly made an entrance! ✨

Our cake fridge is constantly changing, which means there’s always something new to tempt your taste buds. 🍰

One of this week’s favourites? Our Pistachio Basque Cheesecake. Rich, creamy, beautifully caramelised, and packed with pistachio goodness, it’s the kind of slice that disappears faster than we can keep it in the fridge!

The Boss is back… part-time anyway! 💛

After a little health break, she’ll be easing back into the office over the next week.

If you’re waiting on an email, quote or estimate, never fear… it’s on its way! Thank you for your patience while she took some much-needed time to recharge.

And let’s be honest… we all know she’s not very good at sitting still! 😅 So enjoy the calm while it lasts, because once she’s back full-time, she’ll be making up for lost time.

☕ Festival day starts here! 🎉

We’re open 5:00am to 12:00 noon, making us the perfect place to escape the crowds, catch up with friends over great coffee, or simply enjoy a little peace and quiet.

Treat yourself to our house-baked cakes, slices, tarts and savoury favourites, all made fresh by our chefs daily. Because every festival adventure is better with coffee and cake! 🍰
