The Hospital Shop

The Hospital Shop NOT in the hospital but a little oasis nearby for good coffee and wholesome food. This café/restaurant/food store is open for breakfast and lunch seven days.

An unlikely name for a café, the ‘Hospital shop’ has been transformed into a charming home-style café/deli. You can just as easily drop in for a great (organic fairtrade) espresso, frappe, or milkshake as you can for supplies of fresh local organic produce. A regularly changing menu makes the most of seasonal availability. DOGS AND KIDS VERY WELCOME. THE PHILOSOPHY
A powerful and positive concept

underpins The Hospital Shop, community & environment- today, tomorrow and forever. In line with this philosophy you'll find that all of the packaging at The Hospital Café is recyclable, biodegradable or compostable. One of the reasons why the coffee is so good at The Hospital Café is because it's all organic, fair trade and roasted locally. THE FOOD
A daily changing menu that makes the most of seasonal and local produce promises to inspire & expand your palate with its policy of ‘no extras'- flavours, chemicals, preservatives and other unnecessary additives. Home-style, healthy and hearty meals are executed with precision and passion, and of course local seasonal produce. LOTS of gluten free options as well as vegos...

THE VIBE
Like its family owners the vibe of family and familiarity continues to shine in the Café. Determined for everyone to feel like they can consider The Hospital Shop a second home, you'll find everyone is welcome, including your four legged friends. You'll find an eclectic mixed crowd that makes you just want to be a part of it. Reflecting its mixed crowd, the décor & design of The Hospital Shop is mismatched country, meets urban artsy Melbourne. Minimalist in its adornment of tables, shimmering silver cutlery takes centre stage in the table setting. Making the most of its seasonal climate café goers can enjoy a mainly alfresco experience, enjoying the Bradman Oval & Park and leafy surrounds. THE HISTORY
Originally established in 1948 The Hospital Shop is still standing, and proud of it! Now refurbished & renovated with passion this café is raring to go. The extensive history & changes to the building can be found on the walls of the café. THE STORE
In addition to serving delicious home style meals The Hospital Shop also has a great range of local home made jams and other produce. Browse the shelves whilst you wait for your meals, or come in for a chat and stock up on your gourmet supplies.

Urgent!! LAST DAY to submit to the Parliamentary Inquiry regarding Data Centres in Australia and A.I.

Need to write your submission in a word doc then make it into a pdf and then go to the web page and hit the submission then upload. Laborious but so necessary.

https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Senate/Environment_and_Communications/AIdatacentres48P
Need to say:
My submission is in reference to terms (B) & (C)

And these are some points you can write to, adjust, written in haste so apologies if errors.

Point B:
Data Centres
- Depletion of water resources and water contamination
- Noise pollution
- Questionable energy usage/supply - independent back up generators would create excessive air pollution
- Construction and operations of Data Centres would disturb animal wildlife and migratory patterns of animals
- Data Centres will increase the temperature in an already rising world temperature
- Taking pastoral farm land

AI
- At what cost are we willing to let AI take over every aspect of our lives and workforce making people redundant and unable to provide for their families and oneself and pay taxes. Without taxes how does the healthcare and education systems continue to function and look after the population and maintain the infrastructure of our cities and towns? Yes there is a place for AI but if you don’t set clear boundaries it will take over.

C) Health effects
- People living near data centres will be living in heat island effects 2-9 degrees increase in the surrounding area
- Respiratory problems
- Increase cancer rates - back up generators produce nitrogen oxides, CO2 emissions, emit formaldehyde
- Increase heart disease
- Destruction to animal life threatens our food security
- Pollution to the surrounding farm lands effects the food security
- Soil health will be jeopardised
- Bees are already being killed from data centres elsewhere
- Water security
