Pie weather has well and truly arrived and the counter is ready for it.

Spanakopita, chicken with shallot and silverbeet, beef, red wine and bacon, pork, fennel and apple, lamb, mushroom and rosemary and a tandoori vegetable for good measure. All made by hand in the Bendooley kitchen, all on the counter fresh each day.

Who says Christmas only comes once a year?

On Friday 24 July, The Book Barn at Bendooley Estate is hosting Christmas in July, and it is exactly the kind of winter evening worth booking in for. Think festive eggnog on arrival, a spectacular tableshare Christmas feast, an indulgent dessert table, live music from Oberon Lane and a DJ to keep the night going. Oh, and a very special guest who we hear is rather fond of the Highlands in winter.

Some dishes just refuse to stay in one place.

Our slow braised lamb shoulder has earned its way onto the Bendooley wedding menu and has just been added to the new winter menu at The Book Barn restaurant. It turns out a dish this good is hard to keep to one kitchen.

The full dinner package is available to order from The Larder, slow braised lamb shoulder, smoked paprika roasted vegetables, a fresh chickpea and herb salad and a flourless orange, almond and rosemary cake to finish.

Pie season has arrived at The Larder and honestly, it could not have come at a better time.

Our house-made pies are made in small batches in the Bendooley kitchen, golden pastry, warming fillings, the kind of thing that makes a cold evening feel like exactly where you want to be.

This season's flavours:

Something a little different and honestly very us.

We been partnered with AmazingCo on their Southern Highlands Mystery Picnic experience some time now, and it's exactly the kind of day out we'd plan ourselves.

You solve a series of clues and riddles that lead you around the region, collecting locally sourced gourmet food from boutique providers along the way, until you reach your final picnic spot.

The Bendooley Larder is part of the Southern Highlands route. Whether your clues bring you to us or not, the experience is built around everything we love about this part of NSW.
