Bowden Cellars Wine Bar | Bottle Shop | Kitchen
Our drinks list & bottle shop highlight small-batch and boutique South Australian beverage producers.

Bowden Cellars, located within Plant 3—sister venue to Plant 4—is a celebration of South Australia’s finest small-batch producers. Part bar, part bottle shop, part kitchen, it’s a place where every sip tells a story, and every bottle reflects the care, creativity, and personality of its maker. The journey began with the Adelaide Wine Markets at The Market Shed on Holland, where Bowden Cellars’ fou

nders shared their love for local wines, spirits, beers, and ciders with the community. The experience revealed just how much passion and skill goes into small-scale production, and how vital it is to support these artisans who craft every drop with intention. South Australia produces more than half of Australia’s premium wine, making it a hub of quality and innovation—and yet it’s the small-batch producers who truly define the state’s character and flavour. Bowden Cellars was born to celebrate them: to champion their craft, share their stories, and give locals and visitors alike a place to explore, discover, and connect with the very best South Australia has to offer. Setting up shop in the exciting and fast-growing suburb of Bowden resulted in a space that’s more than a bar or bottle shop—it’s a community, a place to gather, and a home for small-batch excellence.

🍷 Friday Wine Tasting @ Bowden Cellars — 5 to 8pm

This Friday we’re welcoming Franklie Wines, a proudly South Australian label with a simple philosophy; wine made with love, to love.

No fuss, no pretension. Just well made, approachable wines sourced from quality South Australian regions including the Adelaide Hills, Currency Creek and the Southern Fleurieu. The kind of wines that are easy to enjoy and even easier to share.
It’s a good reminder that great wine doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it just has to taste good and feel right for the moment.

The Franklie team will be in from 5 to pour and chat through the range. 🍷

This is exactly the kind of producer we built Bowden Cellars around. Small, independent, South Australian, and making wine for all the right reasons ♥️

🍷 Friday Wine Tasting @ Bowden Cellars feat. Price’s Wine…..5 to 8pm

Everything Price’s make comes from a single 40-acre McLaren Vale vineyard, farmed by the family and shaped by coastal hills, maritime air and ancient siltstone sitting just beneath shallow topsoil. Their vines are over 50 years old, their releases are small batch, and nothing goes out the door before it’s ready. Each wine is even labelled by the block it came from, because for them, place is everything.

There’s a real discipline to the way they work. No shortcuts, no excess. Just old vines, a piece of land they know inside out, and wines that reflect exactly that.

This is exactly the kind of producer we built Bowden Cellars around. Small, independent, South Australian, and making wine for all the right reasons. Come say hi 👋🏼 from 5pm 🍷

🍷 Friday Wine Tasting @ Bowden Cellars — 5 to 8pm
This Friday we’re joined by Gullyview Estate, a Clare Valley producer with deep roots and a fresh chapter.

The Koerner family have been growing grapes at Gullyview Vineyards since 1987, and the land has been producing some of the Clare Valley’s finest fruit ever since. In 2023, second-generation vigneron Jono Koerner established Gullyview Estate as a label that pays homage to everything his parents built while carving out something new. A family story worth knowing.

The wines are fruit forward, acid driven and full of regional character. Approachable, honest, and made to be enjoyed rather than saved for a special occasion. Exactly the kind of thing we love having on the shelf.

Jono will be on the bench from 5 to pour and chat through the range. 🍷

Small batch, South Australian, independently owned. These are the producers we champion, and Gullyview Estate is a perfect example of why.

🍷 Friday Wine Tasting @ Bowden Cellars — 5 to 8pm

This Friday we’re joined by Somos Wines. Mexican roots, South Australian soul.

Somos is the project of Mauricio Ruiz Cantú, a Mexican winemaker who came to South Australia to study at the University of Adelaide, fell in love with the place, and never quite left. The name means “we are” in Spanish, a nod to the bond between his Mexican roots and his adopted South Australian home. After graduating he launched Somos in 2015, driven by a desire to make something radically different… fresh, vibrant, and food friendly wines that reflect both the energy of his homeland and the best of what McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills have to offer.

Somos works with small growers across both regions, favouring climate appropriate varieties and minimal intervention in the winery. The result is a range that feels genuinely unique in the South Australian wine landscape.

The crew will be in from 5 to pour and chat through the range. 🍷

Every bottle we stock tells a real story, grown by real people and crafted with care - from vine to bottle. Shop local. Shop small batch SA ♥️

🍷 Friday Wine Tasting @ Bowden Cellars — 5 to 8pm
This wee we’re joined by Jasper from Commune of Buttons, and we cannot wait! We had the privilege of visiting the winery just a couple of weeks back and it was truly a beatiful day filled with incredible wines, stories and warm hospitality.

Jasper Button grew up on his family’s property in Basket Range in the Adelaide Hills. He eventually moved back, not with any grand plan to make wine, but to find a way to make the farm work and keep it in the family. The property happened to be a former hippie commune, the family name happened to be Button, and when Jasper started experimenting with some unsold fruit from their vines, a label name was never going to be far away.

What followed was a decade of quiet, focused work that has earned Jasper a reputation as one of the most respected small producers in the Adelaide Hills. He farms organically and biodynamically, works with minimal intervention in the winery, and bottles everything on site. The wines are the result of someone who has spent years getting to know a single piece of land really well, and it shows. Vibrant, honest, and genuinely delicious.

Come down to the cellars from 5 to meet Jasper and hear all about his wine growing ethos while tasting through some truly delicious wines. 🍷

Every bottle we stock comes from someone who put their name, their land, and their story into it. That’s the only kind of wine we’re interested in ♥️

On the bench this week - Good Intentions Wine Co 🙌🏼

Andrew Burchell grew up in Mount Gambier, left, and eventually found his way back — this time with a plan. He returned to put down roots and build a wine label from the ground up on the land he grew up around. Their vineyards sit on the south side of one of Australia’s youngest volcanos — erupting less than 6,000 years ago — and the soils that came from it are unlike anything else in the country.

Andrew’s approach in the vineyard and winery is rooted in organic farming and a deep respect for what the land is already doing. Hand picked fruit, indigenous yeasts, minimal intervention — wines that taste like the place they came from, because that’s exactly the point.

Andrew will be in from 5 to pour and tell the story himself. 🍷

In a world of big brands and bulk wine, knowing where your glass comes from matters. Every bottle we stock tells a real story — grown by real people, on real South Australian soil, and made with genuine care from vine to bottle. ♥️

🍷 Friday Wine Tasting @ Bowden Cellars — 5 to 8pm

This week we’re joined by Next Crop Wines, and this is one of our favourite kinds of producer stories.

Next Crop started in 2012 when winemaker Dean became fascinated by the alternate grape varieties he was seeing in the vineyards he worked in and started asking a simple question: why aren’t more of these being made into varietal wines? So he started making them himself, in his back shed, in his spare time, while raising three young girls.

That first vintage sold to a wine bar in Adelaide and the feedback was so good he just kept going. His wife Caroline came on board in 2016 and they’ve been making wine together ever since; still in the shed, still doing things their own way, with over 20 different varieties explored and counting.

If you love wine and fancy stepping outside your comfort zone, this Friday is a great chance to try something a little different. Dean and Caroline will be in from 5 to pour and tell the story themselves. 🍷

Bowden Cellars is proud to support our local wine growing legends…every bottle we stock is from a small, independent South Australian producer: real people, real places, and wines worth caring about ♥️

🍷 Friday Wine Tasting @ Bowden Cellars — 5 to 8pm
This Friday we’re joined by Murray Street Vineyards, a boutique estate sitting in the heart of Greenock on the western ridge of the Barossa Valley.

Established in 2001, everything Murray Street makes comes from 100% estate-grown fruit across their Greenock and Gomersal vineyards. The focus is on small-batch, minimal-intervention winemaking that lets the Barossa do what it does best.

These are the kind of wines that remind you why the Barossa has the reputation it does, made by a small team who clearly care about what ends up in the bottle.🍷

With so much happening in the wine industry right now, it’s never mattered more to know exactly who you’re buying from. Every bottle we stock is from a small, independent South Australian producer: real people, real places, and wines worth caring about ♥️
