With heavy hearts, we share the news that Joe passed away last night, surrounded by his loving family. After a courageous journey of over a year with cancer, Joe is now at peace.

Joe, our rockstar chef, had a vibrant energy, an infectious smile, and a warm heart that touched everyone who knew him. While we are deeply saddened by his loss, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit and legacy will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he connected with.

We want to express our deepest gratitude for the overwhelming support and generosity you have shown throughout this difficult time. Your kindness has been a beacon of light during our darkest days.

A special thank you goes out to everyone who donated to the Cancer Council in Joe’s name. Your support will continue to aid in the fight against cancer, providing resources and hope to those affected by this devastating disease. Joe’s journey has been an inspiration, and we hope that his journey will continue to raise awareness and support for others facing similar hardships.

Thank you for being a part of Joe’s life and for standing by us in our time of need. Your kindness has made a profound difference, and we are forever grateful.

It is with great sadness that we share some deeply personal news with you today. Our owner and head chef, Joe, one of the driving forces behind this café, has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Being a non-smoker and fit man, this unexpected turn of events compelled us to temporarily pause our operations as we supported Joe through his initial investigations. After confirming the diagnosis, we have made the decision to permanently close Blueberri so that Joe and his family can focus on his health and prepare for the challenging journey ahead.

We want to take a moment to express our profound gratitude to each and every one of you. From our humble beginnings with Thai Riverside Restaurant to the opening of Blueberri, the warmth and kindness that emanated from the community have been an unwavering source of inspiration. It has been an honour to serve you, to witness the smiles, laughter, and connections made within these walls.

Though our time together has been shorter than we had hoped, it has been brimming with immense joy. The memories we have created will forever hold a special place in our hearts. The friendships we forged, the stories we exchanged, and the bonds we created will endure even as our café's doors close.
