Yep… Christmas AND Halloween are already in the shops. 🎄🎃

But instead of another “OMG it’s too early!” post, I’m going to use this as your little reminder…

Christmas doesn’t have to become one giant, expensive, stressful thing in December.

Start now.

Not in a go-out-and-buy-everything-for-Christmas-in-September kind of way. 😂 Just one little thing each week.

See something on special you know you’ll need? Grab it.
Need stocking fillers? Add one to the trolley.
See a jar you’d normally throw out? Maybe wash it and put it aside.

Because perhaps this is the year we make a few gifts instead of buying everything.

Maybe we fill jars with things made in our own kitchens. Maybe we put together hampers for people we love. Maybe Christmas becomes a little more about gathering, gifting and creating memories, and a little less about running around completely overwhelmed the week before. Speaking from experience 🤦‍♀️

I might even have a few ideas coming to help with that… 😜

For now, consider this your September reminder:
Save the jars. Start the little Christmas stash. Future December-you will be very grateful. 🎄

And yes… I absolutely stopped to look at the Disney Christmas bon bons. Its not Christmas without bon bons.

Delivery Day 💜

Short and sweet today because everyone is stocked up and ready for the weekend!

And with this gorgeous weather, it’s looking like the perfect weekend to get out, grab a coffee, support your favourite local and maybe add a sweet treat while you’re there. 😜

Luchianos delivery day!

Yep… dinner AND dessert is sorted. 😜

And can we just take a moment for those swirls on the NEW Caramel White Chocolate Cheesecake?! 🤤 Caramel swirled through creamy white chocolate cheesecake and I may have stared at it for longer than necessary before cutting it. 😂

The Raspberry White Chocolate Cheesecake is there too, along with a fresh delivery of slices — including Loaded Hedgehog, Biscoff Blondie and more.

And no, I didn’t get a photo of everything that went out. Are we surprised? 😂

So if you’re grabbing pizza from Luchianos tonight, you know the deal… dinner and dessert sorted. 💜

Not a dessert post today! 🐾

Last night this big teddy bear gave our whole family one hell of a scare.

This is Dusty. He’s an American Staffy x Neapolitan Mastiff, 10 years old and the biggest sook you’ll ever meet. 😂 He hates car rides (car sickness and all), thunder, and for some completely unknown reason, anyone standing up high on a ladder or roof. 🤷‍♀️

Last night when Marc went out to feed him, Dusty had tremors all over his body. He still ate his dinner of course 😂 but we couldn’t get him to lie down, settle or relax.

We were stressed. He was stressed. The kids were stressed. It was NOT a fun night.

We knew none of our usual vets were open, so we started Googling 24-hour vets and discovered Bendigo Animal Hospital. I cannot explain the relief of finding out there was somewhere in Bendigo we could take him.

And they were AMAZING.

They called us at 11pm with an update, and the vet even went in at 5am to check on him. 😳

We still don’t know exactly what caused it. Rat bait was ruled out, and one possibility is some nasty bacteria in the ground after all the rain.

Being 10 and such a big dog, there was definitely a point last night where we were preparing ourselves for the possibility that we might not be bringing him home.

But look who is HOME. 🥹💜

Nobody got much sleep, the kids didn’t go to school today, and I think we’re all just very happy to have our giant teddy bear back where he belongs.

Dusty got us through Covid and homeschooling. He’s been beside us through some pretty bloody hard years, and whenever Marc hasn’t been well, Dusty will not leave him alone.

They really aren’t just dogs, are they?
He’s part of our family. And today we’re feeling incredibly grateful that he’s home. 💜🐾

Another MASSIVE Monday!

Honestly, it took me about 4 hours this morning just to cut and pack everything that went out today. There was SO. MUCH. SLICE. 😂

Then it was off to Empire South for this week’s cooking class.

I love that these classes aren’t about making anything overly complicated. They’re about learning recipes and skills that can actually be used again at home — and today’s lemon slice was a perfect one for that.

But after a huge Father’s Day weekend, 100+ scones yesterday, today’s mountain of deliveries AND a cooking class...

This Dessert Nerd is officially buggered. 😂

I think I’ve earned a sit down or maybe a nap.😴

What a way to start Father’s Day! 💜

100+ freshly baked scones with jam and cream were requested for what looked like a MASSIVE Father’s Day brunch — and I can confirm, it looked absolutely delicious when I made the delivery. 😂

Because the scones were part of a much bigger selection of food, we made them a little smaller than the giant café-style scones you would normally see.

And when something is as simple as a scone with jam and cream, I think the little details matter.

So instead of buying the jam, I made it myself — strawberry with the slightest hint of rose. Just enough to make it a little special without taking away from what a good old-fashioned scone should be.

And simple food deserves beautiful ingredients, so of course there was Inglenook Dairy cream too — something I already use regularly in my kitchen.

Sometimes it doesn’t need to be complicated. Good ingredients, made with care, for people gathering around a table together. That’s pretty much my love language. 💜

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, grandads, father figures and everyone being celebrated today — including our very own Mr BBQ Man. 😘

I hope there are plenty of sweet treats involved. xo

Father’s Day deliveries have started! 💜

And there’s a whole lot more than just one type of box heading out today. 😂

We’ve got Father’s Day Favourites, Birthday Boxes, custom boxes and plenty of sweet treats making their way around Bendigo.

I say this all the time, but I genuinely feel so honoured that you let The Dessert Nerd be part of your family traditions and celebrations.

We have quite a few familiar names on my delivery list today — people who have trusted me with their birthdays, Christmases, Mother’s Days, Father’s Days and all those little celebrations in between. 🥹💜

And then there are some brand new names too, which is just as exciting!

Because at the end of the day, this is why I do what I do. It’s not really just about slices and cookies. It’s about gathering around the table, sharing something delicious and creating those sweet little memories together.

Anyway... enough of me getting sentimental. 😂

See you all soon! 💜

P.S. Before anyone tells me off for doing socials while driving — I’m not! 🤣 The BBQ Man is my taxi driver today. 😝

Okay, this is officially your FINAL Father’s Day reminder. 😂

Orders close TONIGHT at 10pm.

You guys might wonder why I post so many reminders when I do limited edition boxes like this...

Honestly? Because it doesn’t matter how many reminders I post, there will ALWAYS be at least one person — usually more 😂 — who messages me after I’ve closed orders to say...
“I forgot!”

And look, I get it.
Especially if you have ADHD like me. 🤣

You see the post. You think “Yep, I need to order that.”
Then you tell yourself...
“I’ll do it later.”
And we all know how that goes. 😂

So here it is. The deadline our brains apparently require:

10PM TONIGHT.

This is your final call to get your Father’s Day orders in. 💜

And I really can’t take late orders this time because at some point I also need to get myself organised and actually make the delicious sweet treats. 🤣

So if you’ve been meaning to do it later...

Later is now. 😂💜

What a day! 💜

It started with deliveries around Bendigo before we headed to Melbourne to casually pick up 70kg of chocolate. 😂 Just normal Dessert Nerd things.

Then it was off to the Fine Food Expo, catching up with our chocolate rep, wandering around looking at all the new products, eating a ridiculous number of samples... you know, important business research. 😜

I also spent a fair bit of time giggling while Marc kept getting pulled into photos as a model. Apparently the hair gets them every time. 😂

But the highlight of my day was getting to meet George Calombaris!

I love days like this. Getting out of my own kitchen, talking to people in the food industry, seeing what everyone is creating and inevitably coming home with my brain buzzing with new ideas.

And yes... I have definitely come home with a few. 👀😂

Now I just need to work out which one gets tested first. 💜

Okay... we’re officially at the “you probably need to organise Father’s Day now” stage. 😂

You’ve got just over 24 hours left to order your Dessert Nerd Favourites Box for Father’s Day.

Whether you’re giving it to Dad, Grandad, Pop or one of your favourite people... taking it along to a family BBQ, packing it for a picnic, or putting it in the middle of the table for everyone to share — dessert is sorted.

Although I make absolutely no promises that Dad will actually share. 🤣

Father’s Day boxes are $49 including local Bendigo delivery and will be delivered this Saturday, ready for Sunday.

Orders close tomorrow night at 10pm.

So if Father’s Day is still sitting on your mental “s #!t, I need to organise that” list...

This is your reminder. 💜
