I used to think the lesson came once the hard part was over. Closing Belmont taught me how wrong I was.

I went in believing that if I could just get through it and out the other side, somewhere in the calm I’d finally understand what it was all for.

But the learning doesn’t live on the other side. It lives in the middle. In the messy, uncomfortable, what am I actually supposed to do now part. That’s where the gold is. And if you rush to get past it, you skip the entire point.

So this time, I’m doing it differently.

We’re in a transition. I know it. Some days that means wrangling today’s problems and tomorrow’s at the same time, keeping things running while trying to build the next version of this whole thing. And instead of sprinting for the finish line, I’m letting myself sit in the hard bit and actually learn from it.

Because that’s the only way through. Not around it. Not over it. Through it. Slowly, and on purpose.

And for the first time, a hard season doesn’t feel like something to survive. It feels like something to listen to.

If you’re sitting in your own messy middle right now, this one’s for you. đŸ€
