Born in Nepal, Anjal Joshi came to Australia when he was 18. After dreaming of opening his own restaurant since 2012, that dream finally became a reality in January 2024 when he opened Magnolia Restaurant in Beaufort.
At Magnolia, Anjal is passionate about serving food prepared from scratch, using local ingredients and produce from his own garden whenever possible. His philosophy is to keep things simple, beautiful and full of flavour, without relying on pre-made food. For Anjal, cooking is about passion and creating something special for his customers.
One of his most memorable moments was during the renovation of Magnolia, when he and his family came to the restaurant and took a photo together. That photo, which still features on Magnoliaβs Instagram, is a treasured reminder of the journey from dream to reality.
Anjal says running a small business in a country town can be challenging, particularly with a smaller market and the need to understand the needs of local customers. He believes being involved in the community makes a real difference and is grateful for the support Beaufort has shown him.
His commitment to supporting other local businesses can even be seen on the Magnolia website, through his βWhatβs Around Us?β section, which connects visitors with other businesses around Beaufort. Itβs Anjalβs way of helping promote the town and encouraging people to explore and support local.
Joining Business for Beaufort has given Anjal the opportunity to connect with other business owners, share ideas and learn from others. He strongly believes businesses should work together rather than compete, saying that by supporting one another, Beaufort can become an even more attractive destination for visitors.
Anjal hopes Beaufort never loses its warm hospitality and community spirit. His message is simple: get involved, support local businesses and work together to build a stronger future for the town.
