Good morning, cute kittens and cool cats! It's Tarot Tuesday at The Black Cat Eatery!

Today, for our community card pull, Miss Foxie drew the Eight of Cups from the Phantomwise Tarot deck. This card does signify leaving something behind — probably a situation that isn't serving you anymore. But, just as the figure on the card is ascending a staircase, so too the querent who receives this card is moving onwards and upwards, towards improvement and better things. This is a time to embrace transition, to open yourself up to the rewards that change can bring. Follow your path with courage and an open heart, towards what this new journey will bring. This is a moment in life "to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."

Today, Miss Foxie used the Celtic Tree Oracle Deck and drew the Coll Hazel card.

This card signifies a time to take a break from noise and distractions, to listen to your ancestors and to the wise women in you life (especially the grandmothers)! It’s a time to pay attention to the moon and spend time by the sea. Focus on your creativity, and trust your intuitions. Allow the muses into your psyche, into your life.

Happy Tarot Tuesday, kitty-cats!

Using the Visions In The Liminal Space oracle deck, Miss Foxie drew the card of The Divine Mother for us today.

All that lives and breathes has come from The Mother, who transcends all the strengths and failings, virtues and weaknesses, of any individual earthly mother. She is Divine — otherworldly — a safe space in a harsh world. This is the sacred power she had chosen, and it is her primary self-driven purpose.

If you need a little extra care or quiet or a friendly smile, stop by The Black Cat Eatery this week! We can’t, of course, personally provide you with the divine sacred love of The Mother directly — but we honor her role, by creating a space in which love is power and food is medicine! We are a space to seek solace or fun — whether from inclement weather or the pressures of work or home — if only for a bit, with the comfort of a drink and pastry, or a big soul food meal.

Happy Tarot Tuesday, y'all! Miss Foxie is running on extra Southern time today, but hopefully it's worth the wait! 😉

Today, we used the New Orleans Voodoo Tarot deck again, and we drew the Dance card. This card occupies the spot that would be taken by The Chariot in the traditional Smith-Waite Tarot deck. Similarly to The Chariot, it represents a combination of chaos and skill. Success is achieved by skillfully combining the two.

In Vodou, ceremonial dance is sacred and a portal to the divine. Using our bodies to connect with the rhythm of the drums and the physical movements of the dance, we enter a state of ecstasy, a space in which Spirit may speak to us and grant us knowledge, wisdom, and guidance. But we must be willing to give up some control in order to access this experience and the healing it can bring.

Good morning, witches and cool cats! We've got a Tarot Tuesday card draw for you as you go about your day!

This card depicts the Vodou spirit Simbi D'L'Eau (also spelled Simbi Dlo), a water snake. In this deck, Simbi Dlo takes the place that would be occupied by the 8 of Cups in the traditional Smith-Waite Tarot deck.

Simbi is a water spirit, and his magick is powerful. He helps with communication, and with vision. He's quiet and shy, but sees much, including things under the surfaces of the waters. Simbi can bestow the gift of second sight (psychic visions).

This card can indicate a certain amount of disillusionment. Do we want to be the snakes in Simbi's mouth, tangled and writhing? Or do we want to be like Simbi, smoothly gliding through the waters, mastering the current as we work with it to move forward?

It may be time to abandon projects and influences that have not been emotionally or spiritually rewarding. Focus on your own internal voice and your own sense of vision to see where the future might take you as you pursue a happier future, and your best life.

It’s our first Tarot Tuesday, y’all!

The Black Cat will be sharing special little spells, recipes, and readings here on this page from time to time, and perhaps other magickal goodies as well. And perhaps eventually some in-house events. We’ll see what the future may hold . . .

Our reader is a sweet but spooky Southern girl known by her friends as Miss Foxie. For her first Black Cat reading, she used The Phantomwise Tarot and drew The Queen of Wands.
