St Gwinear car park at 1280m has received no snow overnight or higher up at 1500m mark.
Yesterday we saw visitors enjoying the clear weather conditions with groups ascending for overnight hikes to day trips and short walks over the Baw Baw Plateau.
Today conditions are clear although we can expect more windy conditions. ☀️💨🌀

☀️💨🌀 Presently 8.2 degrees mostly windy clear conditions forecast today with a top of 15 degrees expected with a NNW wind at around 25km/h.

✅ Road is open & clear to the top car park.
🅿️ Park park is open and clear.
⚠️ Please move safely around the car park road area in your vehicles when parking and leaving the car park.

🌿If the Parks Victoria office is closed or unattended on your visit the Park Rangers could be conducting Park duties or on Patrol within the area.

❄️🛞⛓️ Snow wheel chains are required to be carried for all vehicles-2wd, Awd & 4wd during the declared snow season at Mt St Gwinear.

We know everyone is hoping for some snow action these holidays! If the snow arrives over school break, Alfies Fast Food van will be fired up and open for business!

St Gwinear - Baw Baw National Park is Always open for visitors with the toilets and change rooms accessible.
This is a basic visitor site so visitors are encouraged to be self sufficient.
There is an Information Hut within the Car Park providing information on St Gwinear and Baw Baw National Park for visitors.

Escape the crowds and follow a section of the Australian Alps Walking Track to discover Mushroom Rocks, on the Baw Baw Plateau.

This 3km hike winds through an enchanting mountain ash forest dotted with silver wattle, lush ferns, and even snow in the winter season.

Walk amongst the trees and monumental granite tors, formed over many years, that give this special place its name.

📍 Baw Baw National Park is part of an Aboriginal cultural landscape that includes traditional Country of the Gunaikurnai and Wurundjeri Peoples.

Alfies Fast Food food van will Not Open this weekend due to Limited Snow. ⏱️❄️

However there is snow still available throughout the Baw Baw National Park for visitors above 1450m.
Sight seeing snow access via the Walking Track.

Cross-country skiing & Snow-shoeing has been rated poor cover conditions on trails.

Snow camping will still be available over the Baw Baw Plateau except in the Reference Area Zone and within 20 metres of streams and alpine bogs.
Please fill out a intention form located at the information hut in the Car Park before your trip.

However there is snow still available throughout the Baw Baw National Park for visitors above 1450m.
Sight seeing snow access via the Walking Track with snow holding in sections of the track upto the viewing platform.

Snow camping & Snowshoeing will still be available kicking off at Jeep Track Flat this week.
Cross-country skiing snow conditions on trails are becoming patchy cover although there is still sections of the trails that are offering continuous skiing.

❄️⛰️ St Gwinear has seen a great flow of overnight campers this weekend with the Car Park showing 9 cars overnight, it’s fantastic to see folk getting out there.
skiing & snow-shoeing start at Jeep Track Flat 1450m today with around 12cm - 18cm of snow base from JTF upto the summit and throughout the Baw Baw Plateau.

⬇️⛰️ Lower altitude at Car Park 1280m has minimal snow patches with the walking track offering sightseeing snow and snow play as you make your way further upto the viewing platform.

🌤️ Presently 1 degrees and mostly clear forecast today with a top of 6-8 degrees expected with a WSW wind at around 5km/h, shifting South in the afternoon.

✅ Road is open & clear to the top Car Park.
🚘 🅿️ Car Park is open and clear.
⚠️ Please move safely around the Car Park road area in your vehicles when parking and leaving the Car Park.
🤔 Be mindful of pedestrians transitioning between their vehicles, food van, Parks Victoria office - and the snow area.

❄️⛰️St Gwinear on mountain update on current snow conditions is posted in Thursday’s evening’s post, please backtrack through the posts as there has been little change to the snow base at higher elevations in the last 48 hours.

🥾The walking track has fair sightseeing snow as you make your way upto the viewing platform and is a great way to enjoy a taste of Victorian alpine nature if you aren’t planning on cross-country skiing or snow-shoeing.

🌥️Presently -0.2 degrees mostly clear forecast today with temperatures between 3-9 degrees expected with a SE wind at around 9km/h.
