🦜 CHEEKY THE PARROT’S SANDY CREEK ADVENTURE
One parrot. One National Park. Absolutely no adult supervision. 😂🌴
G’day, featherless friends! Cheeky here — professional adventurer, snack inspector, photo-bomber and self-appointed tourism ambassador for Litchfield National Park. 🦜
Today’s mission: Sandy Creek! 🌿💦
Now, humans apparently call this “exploring nature.” I call it flying around looking important while everyone else carries the bags. 😂
And seriously… LOOK AT THIS PLACE! Crystal-clear water, gorgeous bushland, pandanus everywhere, big Territory rocks and that unmistakable Top End scenery. Sandy Creek is the sort of place where you arrive thinking, “We’ll just have a quick look,” and three hours later you’re still sitting there wondering why you live anywhere with traffic lights. 🌴☀️
Naturally, I conducted a full inspection.
Water? Cheeky approved. ✅
Rocks? Excellent standing-on material. ✅
Scenery? Ridiculous. ✅
Photo opportunities? Everywhere. 📸
Random floating contraption in the creek? Highly suspicious. Investigation launched immediately. 👀😂
Then we found the waterfall.
OH. MY. FEATHERS. 🤩💦
Beautiful cascading water, rugged cliffs and a magnificent swimming hole surrounded by classic Northern Territory bush. Meanwhile, there I am perched on a rock looking like I personally discovered the place.
Captain James Cook? Never heard of him. Captain Cheeky has arrived. 🦜🧭😂
Of course, every serious expedition requires refreshments. The humans cracked a cold Great Northern while I maintained strict supervisory control from my rock.
I don't drink b**r. I'm three years old and I've got standards. 😂🍺
But apparently nothing says “Top End adventure” quite like a cold one beside a waterfall.
That’s what makes Litchfield National Park so special. It’s not just one waterfall or one swimming spot — it’s kilometres of spectacular Territory country packed with waterfalls, swimming holes, monsoon forest, sandstone country, enormous termite mounds and places that make you stop and say:
“Bloody hell… we actually live near THIS?” 😍🌴
And Sandy Creek delivered exactly what Cheeky ordered: water, wilderness, adventure and plenty of rocks from which to judge the humans.
Eventually they said it was time to leave.
I said NO.
They said, “Come on, Cheeky.”
I suddenly couldn't understand English.
🦜😇
CHEEKY’S FINAL VERDICT:
Sandy Creek — 10/10 feathers. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Would explore again.
Would pose again.
Would supervise another b**r again.
Would absolutely refuse to leave again.
If you’re heading through the Top End, get out and experience Litchfield National Park. Take your swimmers, take your camera, take plenty of water…
…and apparently take a parrot who thinks the entire National Park belongs to her. 😂🦜🌴💦
Until the next adventure,
💚 Cheeky the Parrot
