The sun setting on Republic of Letters. Some time in December, 7 years ago, we purchased the lease on this nook of Balwyn. A few months later, with no previous experience, we were up and running! Full of trepidation yet excited to bring an essence of Paris magic to Melbourne’s suburbs.
It’s been quite an adventure. We are grateful to our staff, who over the years helped us grow, shared skills and many shared the magic of their beautiful energy with us and that contributed to the “esprit”, soul of our much loved French Republic of Letters 💙🤍❤️ Merci 🙏🏼

Not many people know this, but thanks to one of our customers who brought his gorgeous and well behaved fur baby Stella, we adopted our fur baby Momo from the same breeder 😃 We hope that all the fur babies that visited RL enjoyed a warm welcome. We loved the sunshine that these little angels bring 💖

Our most heartfelt gratitude to our post covid lockdown team who’s hard work, loyalty, camaraderie enabled us to survive another 2 years after lockdown during Melbourne’s hospitality scene’s toughest time.

Hello and Goodbye.

It is with great sadness that we announce our permanent closure.

It’s been a wonderful 7 years and we are eternally grateful to everyone who has supported us.

You will never truly understand how much it has meant to us and hope you’ll remember the experiences you enjoyed with us.

We will miss this business and the area and cherish the memories we’ve made.

To our diligent staff, I thank you for your care, enthusiasm and hard work providing a taste of Paris in suburban Balwyn.

To all, with gratitude, love and appreciation, we don’t say, “Au Revoir”, we say “A Bientot”.
