💛 We are absolutely blown away by the response to our new Play Café at Freda's!
Seeing so many Ballarat mums, dads, grandparents and carers enjoying a coffee while their little people laugh, play and make new friends has been everything we hoped it would be. Thank you for embracing our little space with so much love.
As many of you know, our play area is still a work in progress. While we're excited to continue growing it, the space is currently limited. To make sure every family has the best possible experience and to avoid having to disappoint excited little faces, we'd really appreciate it if you could book ahead where possible.
Bookings help us prepare with the right staffing levels, provide the best service we can, and ensure everyone has a chance to enjoy the space.

Eight years ago, when I was new to Ballarat with my little girl, I was always searching for somewhere I could truly relax. A place where I could enjoy a beautiful coffee, a delicious meal, or even dinner with my husband, while knowing my daughter was safe, happy and entertained.
There were play centres around, but I always found myself wishing for something more. Better food. Great coffee. A calmer, more beautiful space. Somewhere that didn’t feel cold in Ballarat’s winter or overwhelming for parents.
I never found that place.
So... I built it.
Fast forward to today, my little girl is now 9 years old, and the dream we wished for together has become a reality here at Freda’s Café Restaurant Bar.
Our new play space has been thoughtfully designed especially for for preschoolers, a safe, cosy place where little imaginations can explore, climb, play and make friends while parents and carers can slow down, enjoy genuinely good food, exceptional coffee, and maybe even finish a conversation while it’s still hot! ☕🤍
Whether you’re meeting friends, escaping the weather, or simply looking for somewhere the whole family can enjoy, we’d love to welcome you.
