For those interested in our next move, We are thrilled to share the news that we are joining the exceptionally talented team at Skillogalee Estate.

We are so thankful for the opportunity, and beyond excited to be able to continue our culinary journey here in the beautiful Clare Valley

A big thank you goes out to Guy Parkinson for facilitating such a smooth transition, and the warm welcome from the entire team.

We cant wait to get to work.

We look forward to seeing your friendly familiar faces soon.

We are so delighted to share big news: the brilliant Dan Moss joins Skillogalee today as our new Executive Chef! 🎉🎉🎉

Dan began his stellar career in 1999, working in restaurants across Australia, Europe and Canada, before coming home to open Terroir Auburn in the with his wife, Annika Parish, in 2012.

The feted Terroir and its stunning locavore focus was awarded an Good Food Guide Chef’s Hat for 12 years in a row before its final service in May.

Dan brings to Skilly his love for all aspects of the hospitality industry, and his passion for true regional dining and local ingredients.

“The vision for Skillogalee moving forward is something I had to be part of, and I can't wait to get to work on deepening the essence of its dining experience," he says.

"I am very much looking forward to bringing my knowledge of all things local, and working side by side with the incredible talent the entire team already has, to create an unwavering Clare Valley experience for both our wonderful community and for visitors to our beautiful region."

Guy Parkinson, our head of operations, says the Skilly team is thrilled to welcome Dan on board: “Together with our Head Chef Tristran Steele and newly appointed Restaurant Manager Priscila Cunha, we are looking forward to a very bright future."

Please join us in welcoming Dan! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

Dear beautiful people,

It has been very humbling that so many people are interested in what we are doing next, a bit of a surreal feeling to be honest.

My Knife roll is packed, and we are beyond excited to let you know which kitchen these knives will be calling home as of Monday the 1st of July.

In an effort to look semi professional, I have my own personal account after 11 years…

You can follow me if you would like to know where we end up.

A few final posts to follow before we close the accounts down at the end of the month, bringing an end to this chapter of our lives that put us in the position for what’s next for our family.

Dear much loved, and deeply valued customers.

It’s with gratitude, a heavy heart, honour, relief, and a tear in our eye, that Annika and I would like to inform you that we will be closing the doors to our restaurant & guest suite business, Terroir Auburn.

We opened Terroir Auburn on the 12th of September 2012. Our last dinner service will be Friday the 31st of May 2024.

We had been preparing to put our business on the market in recent months, but sadly were unable to secure the lease required to sell our business in its current format.

With the lease expired, we have a choice, and we have made the very tough, emotional and correct decision to close the doors.

We leave of our own accord, with our heads held high, and nothing left in the tank knowing we gave it our absolute all. I can’t begin to express how brutal and upsetting it has been to walk away from something we have poured our whole heart into over the last 11 years.

The extremely volatile and uncertain economic future this country is currently facing has been a big factor in our decision, and we are just simply not willing to carry any debt into the rest of the year, and risk our young family’s future on a game that is impossible to win for small business owners in 2024.

The issues facing the hospitality industry are yet to be fully recognised by those decision makers at the top.

We do food and beverage extremely well here in South Australia, it’s one of our states most important draw cards. To both the federal and state governments, please listen to our industry leaders, and help. Yes, we understand submarines are important, and maybe you can bring one of them with you, instead of the current bow and arrow you are bringing to a gun fight.

We won’t be the only ones making this decision this year. Brilliant and very talented operators will be faced with this choice also, and we hope they have the courage to make the right business decision for their families.

Our landlord has granted our wish to continue on until the end of May, so we can say goodbye to all our deeply valued customers, and not to mention our producers, who we will also dearly miss.

We will be getting in touch with all reservations that have been made after the 31st of May, and full refunds will be made available to those guests that have pre-paid their stays in the guest suites. You will also have the option to roll your bookings over to the new accommodation operator.

If you have a valid voucher for Terroir Auburn, please ensure you book in to redeem it prior to the 31st of May.

On a personal note, I am deeply humbled and thankful for Terroir Auburn. It has given me the chance to live out my dream to open, and run, my very own restaurant. I have given it all I have, and more, at the expense of my wife, daughters, family and mates.

To those close to me, I can’t thank you enough for the unconditional support over the past decade, and I’m very much looking forward to being able to spend more time with you all.

To our team, past and present, immense gratitude for you coming on this ride with us. It’s impossible to thank you enough for all your talent and hard work. We love you as family.

So, for now its farewell. We want to use the next 2 months as a celebration, and we hope to see all your beautiful faces sometime soon to help us send Terroir out with the bang she wholeheartedly deserves.

We are forever thankful.
