The aim of our group is to educate and entertain participating members on all matters pertaining to Australia’s first 70 years of settlement. Points of interest open for discussion/debate/investigation and or reflection will relate to:
The way of life which prevailed after Captain Cook’s claim to colonise Australia, such as the displacement of the Australian Aboriginals; the convict transport system; the squatters, shearers, stockmen and bullock drivers; the diggers of the gold rush era and all other matters of general Genealogical interest; and not to mention the pioneering women that ‘Rocked the Cradle” of the nation. Our members will have the opportunity to attend regular meetings, workshops, field trips and social events to further enhance our knowledge of such an interesting and challenging era of Australian History. IS FOR YOU!!! Criteria:
• Members: Any person over the age of 18 years is eligible to become a member of the Convict and Colonist Club of Australia upon completion of the application.
• A joining fee of $10.00 together with a $15.00 subscription fee must accompany each application.
• Annual membership fees are due on the anniversary of subscription.
• All non-financial members will be deleted from the mailing list.
• Guests of members are most welcome. Situated in Ballarat, be sure to drop in and say G'day.
