Call in over the weekend...
The Royal Hotel, Adelong, NSW.
Located on the Snowy Mountains Highway, the Royal serves as a quintessential country pub and a popular halfway stop between Sydney and Melbourne.
Affectionately known as 'The Top Pub', it's the oldest continuously operating hotel in Adelong.
The hotel was established in the late 1850s during the height of the Adelong gold rush and was first named "The Pride of Galway". It was rebuilt and renamed the Royal Hotel in 1882.
In 2005, a truck accidentally crashed into the corner of the historic building, nearly destroying it. The Royal underwent major sympathetic restorations and renovations, allowing the heritage-listed pub to live on and reopen for locals and travellers.
The hotel offers clean, country-style accommodation, and features a cozy front bar, roaring fireplaces for the winter, and a child-friendly outdoor area. Their menu highlights pub classics, regional beers, wines, and local ciders.
