I have some very big news, and my heart is very full!
With nothing but excitement, I can announce that as of October 1st, Mayfair Bakery & Patisserie will be under new ownership.
Firstly thank you!
To my customers, and to my community. You have carried this bakery as much as I have.
I took over the reins at Mayfair at 21 (now a very wise 35). It was no easy feat I was a lot younger and not quite as grey! It became clear to me that I've been a custodian of Mayfair, and now it's my turn to pass the baton.
For those who don't always see what happens behind the scenes my Mum, Suzanne, and my Dad, Peter, are just as much a part of Mayfair as I am. The countless hours they've put in behind the scenes built what we have today.
From a young man with ideas and so much passion, here's what I'm proudest of:
Saving a historic brand and setting it up to see another 150 years. Blood, sweat and tears (and then some).
Growing a loved local icon from the Port into one of SA's leading bakery brands.
Multiple awards.
110+ students through our doors, apprenticeships completed start to finish, and a seat on the TAFE SA bakery advisory board.
Going from SA's top venues to supermarket shelves nationally we're now doing over 4 tonnes of cream cheese a month!
Building our gluten-free production kitchen from the ground up.
Our partnership with Beerenberg over 343+ years of combined SA history.
Curating Yitpi Yartapuultiku cafe,kitchen, menu and opening, and creating menus for The Ghan and the Art Gallery of SA.
Standing behind the clubs, charities and community that made Port Adelaide feel like home.
It's been my privilege to showcase Port Adelaide to the country, and stand behind a community that has always stood behind me.
I'll let the new owner introduce themselves when the time is right. What I can promise:
Mayfair stays in Port Adelaide hands, family owned, with a very big future ahead!
I'll continue as an ambassador for SA food manufacturing and championing Port Adelaide. Looking forward to some well earned family time, and enjoying my community as a resident, a local and of course a customer of Mayfair!
