September is the perfect time for a walk through pink Yerevan. So, let’s set off, taking in the shimmering interplay of tuff and autumn sunlight.

Our first stop is the National Assembly building on Baghramyan Avenue, where the atmosphere feels unmistakably Yerevan. From there, walk downhill and take in the striking architecture on both sides of the avenue. Սև Օհանյանը հայկական արմատներով ամերիկացի պրոդյուսեր և սցենարիստ է, որի աշխատանքները ոչ միայն հայտնի են միջազգային կինոհարթակներում, այլեւ՝ արդեն արժանացել են հեղինակավոր կինոմրցանակների։

Այս ամառ Սև Օհանյանը հյուրընկալվել էր ARARAT թանգարանում՝ ծանոթանալով հայկական կոնյակի պատմությանն ու ժառանգությանը։

Sev Ohanian is an American producer and screenwriter of Armenian descent whose work has earned international recognition and prestigious film awards.

This summer, the ARARAT Museum had the pleasure of welcoming Sev Ohanian, introducing him to the history and heritage of Armenian brandy. We hope the visit will inspire his future work. In the meantime, here are three of his most notable films.

“Searching” (2018) – After his daughter disappears, a father searches for clues by retracing her digital footprint. A gripping thriller that keeps viewers on edge from the very first minutes.

“Run” (2020) – A tense psychological thriller in which a daughter begins to suspect that her mother is hiding a life-changing secret.

“Sinners” (2025) – Twin brothers Smoke and Stack return to their hometown in the American South, hoping to leave their troubled past behind and open a music club for the local Black community. Their plans are shattered when an ancient supernatural force emerges, turning a night of music and celebration into a desperate fight for survival. The film has already won both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.

Ռոման Բալայանի կինոն մարդկային զգացմունքների և ներաշխարհի յուրահատուկ ուսումնասիրություն է։ Ինքնատիպ ռեժիսորական ձեռագրով նա կարողացել է բացահայտել մարդու ապրումների ամենանուրբ շերտերը՝ ստեղծելով ֆիլմեր, որոնք արդիական և հետաքրքիր են տարբեր սերունդների հանդիսատեսի համար։

ARARAT թանգարանը պատիվ է ունեցել հյուրընկալել անվանի ռեժիսորին, իսկ այսօր առաջարկում է բացահայտել նրա երեք ֆիլմ։

ARARAT թանգարանը պատիվ է ունեցել հյուրընկալել օսկարակիր լեհ ռեժիսոր Պավել Պավլիկովսկուն։ Նրա նոր՝ «Հայրենիք» ֆիլմը ներառված էր «Ոսկե Ծիրան» միջազգային կինոփառատոնի այս տարվա ծրագրում։ Ֆիլմի գործողությունները ծավալվում են 1949 թվականին՝ երկու աշխարհի բաժանված Եվրոպայում:

Պավլիկովսկին կինոյում վարպետորեն բացահայտում է մարդու ներաշխարհն ու հույզերը՝ դրանք դիտարկելով պատմական ժամանակաշրջանի համատեքստում։

ARARAT Museum was honored to host Oscar-winning Polish director Paweł Pawlikowski. His new film, Homeland, is featured in this year's program of the Golden Apricot International Film Festival. The film tells the story of Europe in 1949, divided into two worlds.

Paweł Pawlikowski masterfully explores the inner world and emotions of his characters, placing their personal stories within the broader context of history. If you have not yet discovered his work, we recommend starting with these two films:

Ida – a subtle, deeply moving story about identity, faith, and coming to terms with the past. The film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2015.

Cold War – a love story set against the backdrop of a politically divided Europe. The film is widely regarded as one of the finest achievements of contemporary European cinema.
