TASTE "D" FLAVOUR ISLAND CUISINE is a Guyanese-Anguillian mix Restaurant own and operate by Roxanne "Roxy" Benjamin

Located in Little Harbour, Jeremiah Highway, Anguilla. Roxy decided to open her restaurant that brings its diners to the Caribbean Island with just one bite. This Guyanese native’s main objective is to provide customers with an authentic Caribbean Island dining experience.
“I love it when people come here for the first time seeking new flavours,” she says. “My unique restaurant make my customers feel the true spirit of Guyanese-Anguillian in my cuisine, my décor and my service.”
Offering Guyanese staples like curried chicken, fish, beef, shrimp Roti, curried goat and Guyanese patties, Bake Bar B-Q chicken wings, Bar B-Q bake or grill ribs, pot fish, fungi, peas & rice just to name a few as well as my local punches "Almonds, Wallnut and Peanut" and vegetable drinks such as Beet root, Carrot, Ginger, Lemonade, Cucumber etc.
The menu at Taste "D" Flavour Cuisine has something for anybody who wants a proper introduction to the island's cuisine.
Roxy’s journey to culinary entrepreneurship is anything but typical.
Born in Guyana, Roxy's mother taught her to cook at a very young age before migrating to Anguilla. She came as a train qualify nurse where she was able to work and practice her medical skills as a nurse at the Princess Alexander Hospital.
Roxy is an excellent cook as well and her entrepreneurial approach was unconventional.
At the beginning, she would send a mass text to all her contacts to let them know what she was cooking that day ,” she recalls. “They would text their orders back and will be on their way to her house for their orders.”
Roxy honoured her culinary skills by giving young children and adult cooking lessons at their various homes, which allowed her to give back to her community while at the same time letting them use her industrial kitchen. “There were lots of children from the Caribbean Island communities,” she explains. “So this was a way to regain some of the culture they have lost in translation. Rediscovering their roots through cooking which made them very happy!”
Following her involvement with the community, Roxy bolstered her success for business where as she sets up her food hut and named it "Taste "D" Flavour Island Cuisine’s" current location (Little Harbour, Jeremaih Highway) in July 2016.
“You have to always do your homework, and never be afraid to make mistakes,” she proclaims. “Good or bad, feedback is all about character-forming. That’s what allows me to soldier on no matter what.”
Passing down the Caribbean Vibe to the New Generations
Roxy, is proud of Taste "D" Flavour Island Cuisine’s ability to appeal to a varied clientele.
International, Locals and natives of the Caribbean are given the same warm welcome, “this is my community now, and I want to offer Anguilla, a bit of Guyanese and Anguillian style. You leave a bit of your culture behind when you emigrate, but you can adapt and preserve it for the next generation,” she concludes with a smile.
