One piece can spark your curiosity. The next can take you somewhere entirely different. 🌍

Our journey begins in West Africa, exploring a Nimba mask from Guinea, a carved granary door from Mali, kente cloth from Ghana, and more.

Each offers a starting point a chance to look closer, ask questions and discover the people and traditions behind it.

This is just a glimpse of West Africa, a region with many more countries, communities and stories than one carousel could hold.

At Afro Baobab Cultural Hub, we look forward to bringing you closer to African art, stories and traditions, alongside spaces for rhythm, creativity and connection.

Before the doors have opened, hundreds of students are already booked to walk through them. 📚

Schools across the city have reserved visits for their classes - not because we asked nicely, but because their teachers looked at what happens here and saw something they couldn't do in a classroom.

A morning inside African culture rather than a chapter about it. Stories told out loud by people who grew up with them. Drums that are meant to be played. Objects with names and origins, handled rather than viewed.
And every student leaves having made something.

We're still finishing the space. But the calendar is already filling.

🥁 In a drumming circle, you cannot fake listening.

Call and response is one of the oldest musical structures on the African continent. One person plays a phrase. Everyone answers. It only works if the group is genuinely paying attention and it falls apart immediately when someone isn't.
That's why we use it with teams.

We're not going to tell you an hour of drumming builds a high-performing team. It doesn't. What it does is create a situation where people notice how they listen, how they wait, how they take a turn, and how quickly a group can coordinate without anyone appointing themselves in charge.

Those are things teams talk about constantly and rarely get to feel.
And because nobody in the room is an expert, the usual hierarchy stops being useful for a while.
