THE BEAUTY OF THE BONSAI – A DEMO BY IAN MILLAR

We may know bonsai as the art of growing miniature trees, but its roots can be traced to the ancient Chinese art of penjing, the creation of landscapes in a single vessel or tray. The Japanese art of bonsai evolved from this tradition, developing its own refined approach to cultivating the perfect miniature trees.

Here at the Art Café, we’re thrilled to be hosting Ian Millar for a fascinating demonstration on shaping and maintaining trees through pruning, wiring, root management and cultivation.

The Ramsgate Chess Club, hosted by the Art Café, is growing! It is wonderful to see the boards getting busier and the games getting more competitive.

The Art Café is proud to be part of the beginning of the Ramsgate Chess Club as well as hosting the club every second Saturday – with the next meeting this Saturday, 15th August.

Chess truly is a remarkable game – challenging, strategic and endlessly interesting, but also a wonderful way to bring people together, make new connections and enjoy a little healthy competition.

The Ramsgate Chess Club now has its own website, where you can find out more about the club, keep up with chess news and see the scores from games played at each meeting.

Under the News section, you'll find fascinating information about chess – keep up to date with what's happening in the world of chess and be transported through history and time to truly understand this ancient game. The possibilities are as endless as the moves – watch this space!
