Buttonquail Private Nature Reserve Elgin

Buttonquail Private Nature Reserve Elgin Annual 2 night 3 day Trail run in the Elgin Valley. Explore private trails on Buttonquail Private Nature Reserve. No shared stays, it's an exclusive use deal.

It's been a dream to own a piece of South Africa and now we have achieved this dream. On a dead end gravel road, winding through orchards and vineyards, is a 600 hectare private nature reserve full of the most pristine fynbos you will find anywhere. Our neighbours are the WWF Koegelberg Biosphere, voted the most biodiverse place on the planet. There are no fences and space goes on forever - fauna

and flora abound. With both the Groot and Klein Palmiet Rivers running through the reserve, you can imagine how special Buttonquail Private Nature Reserve is.. The camp consists of 5 large family units all with own shower, toilet and basin. A 4 bedroomed house on the hill with its own en suite setup. The central boma is very spacious and has a fully equipped bush kitchen, dining and lounging area. The gardens are an oasis of wonderful indigenous plants and the central fire pit, hillside jacuzzi and grassed lawn is a great place to entertain and relax. For family and friends this is as good as it gets. We keeping it rustic and family orientated, not luxurious as it was in the early days. It's about getting into the wild, away from the bright lights of the city. With no connection to the outside world its a wonder to see adults and kids properly connect. Approximately one hour from Cape Town and you are in paradise. If you are like minded people looking for a place to enjoy each others company in the wild get hold of us on [email protected] if you are interested in renting the camp on an all inclusive basis.

The Quail Trail 🐦🌿

An annual excuse to get out into the mountains, get a little dirty, and spend time with really good people.

The Quail Trail takes place in Elgin and winds its way through the incredible Kogelberg — the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom and one of the most biodiverse places on the planet.

You can walk it, run it, or simply take your time and soak it all in.

And then, of course, there’s the best part… coming back to the lawn for ice-cold beers, Aperols, good music, bare feet, plenty of laughs and those long conversations you never seem to have enough time for.

Because the Quail Trail isn’t really about how fast you get around the mountain.

It’s about being outside, meeting like-minded people, reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, and enjoying a little bit of real life.

Good people. Wild places. Cold drinks.
Real connections. That’s the Quail Trail. 🐦❤️

DATE 14-16 MAY 2027, ENTRIES OPEN SOON

Out in nature, where the air feels cleaner and the world slows down.
Rivers moving, wide open space, nothing but good people around you.

Old friends, new faces, shared moments that stay with you long after.

Quail Trail is more than a weekend.
It’s a chance to step back into something real, something we don’t get enough of anymore.

Already looking forward to round two on the 15th May.
