Homegrown Barbecue We are a husband and wife competion barbecue team that kicked off mid 2024.

Since then, we have made some amazing partnerships, friends who turned into family, and earmed some pretty cool trophys!

What. A. Weekend!
We loaded up and drove out to the inaugural CBA at BCS, and what an event! There was so much going on between the cook-off, rodeo, & carnival… Gabe Medina & Shawna Tillotson did an AMAZING job putting the whole shebang together! As ALWAYS, Brenda Waters & William Bolyn held the whole thing together and we couldn’t be more thankful for them! When the smoke cleared, we didn’t land where we had hoped… but you can’t win em all! Chicken: 19th place 🐓, Ribs: 17th place 🩻, Pork: 5th place 🐖, Brisket: 22nd place 🐄, Beans: 23rd place 🫘, Cooks Choice: 8th place 🍤, Bartenders Choice: 1st place 🥇, Salsa 5th place 💃. Giving us 16th overall in the “BBQ Mecca”!

We were slightly off our game this weekend… for obvious reasons. However, when the dust settled this weekend (literally and figuratively)… We ended up with 1st place Chicken 🐓 (1st time EVER), 16th place ribs 🩻🫪, 4th place pork 🐖, 13th place brisket 🐄, 13th place beans (thanks KP for 4pm beans 🙄), and 3rd place Chef’s Choice (we lost the tie breaker to Carmen) giving us an 8th overall! We ended the evening with a double rainbow, a toast to Ty, a Spurs victory, & Top 10 “Karoky”! BIG congrats to LC BBQ on GC (No. 6!!!!) and First Class BBQ on RGC! Thank you to each and every one of you that called, texted, commented, messaged, and hugged mommas neck after Fridays incident. We are truly grateful for the BBQ family that we have and genuinely love you all to pieces! Now we take a weekend off to rest, and recover, then off to Lockhart for the BBQ Capital Showdown!

Not the best way to start the weekend… but Momma is ok. Sore… but ok and THAT is all that matters. She DEMANDED that we still go cook this weekend (I swear she bullied me into it)… so that’s what we did. Accident at 11:40 this morning. Made it to Bandera by 3:30. Chef’s choice turned in by 6:53. Now we eat, relax, and get ready for tomorrow. 🤞🏼

Last weekend traveled the whole 3 miles down the road to cook at the Cooking up a cure for kids, which raises funds and collects toys for the Santa Shelby project. We put out some stellar food, got to hang with friends, and walked away with a 4th overall! 🐓 Chicken: 12th place, 🩻 Ribs: 12th place, 🐖 Pork: 10th place, 🐄 Brisket: 4th place, 🫘 Beans: 4th place, 🍮 Dessert: 8th place, & 🥩 Cooks Choice: 3rd place.
