Cassandra Music & Supply

Cassandra Music & Supply Welcome! Cassandra Music & Supply has been serving the Pacific Northwest since 1976. In short, we do it all! What do YOU need today?

What began as teaching a few lessons has become a multifaceted local business which serves the community's musical needs by hosting a Thursday Night Open Mic at the Forza Coffee Company in DuPont and providing musical booking and referrals to business-owners, organizations and private parties in the Puget Sound area. We also provide sound reproduction services at festivals and events, and offer gu

itar, bass, mandolin & banjo instruction. Additionally, we have developed quality instructional materials such as the Guitar Instructor series, which will soon be available in a downloadable format.

I just released Guitar Instructor 12 "Questions Students Ask". Several yeas ago I served on a guitar blog with several other teachers who would be asked questions by on-line students. We would bat around our opinions and try to answer questions on many diverse topics. This is a compilation of 264 questions that I was asked, re-edited and put into topical sections.

To anyone more clever than I am...For the first 50 years I played guitar and other stringed instruments if they didn't hold tune overnight they always went flat. For the last few years they have always gone sharp by as much as a half step. This makes no sense to me except that it may have something to do with a change in the atmosphere. Any thoughts?

The Banjo Instructor Series 1,2,3,&4 was completed and published in 2022. In November 2023 The Guitar Instructor 9 (American and Celtic Fiddle Tunes) was completed and published. In this January The Bass Instructor was also completed and published all thru Cassandra Music [email protected]. All are getting excellent reviews from Ancient Victories. I am now working on my 14th recording which I do and give away annually for Christmas to my students. We just keep marching on. I'm still teaching, writing, recording, and some minor performing after 40 years of service. No end in sight although my wife asked me the other day, "How many are you going to write. The answer, "At least one more."

Phil Hansen has been teaching students guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, and uke between the age of 6 and 90 privately since 1972. He excells in teaching basics, and specializes in Contemporary American Fingerstyle and Flatpicking, pop, and light jazz.

Since 1978 he has been on staff at Green River College and Bellevue College where he has taught credited and non-credited college music classes for 24 years. He also has taught high school and junior core curriculum classes for another 5 years. In addition, he has been subcontracting into stores continuously teaching private one on one lessons since June of 1978.

He has written 11 published manuals on guitar and mandolin techniques, is currently completing 2 more, recorded 9 albums and has logged thousands of performances in numerous bands, orchestras and pit orchestras since the early 70s.

In his time as a teacher Phil has maintained a good, strong track record of success, a good professional reputation and has taught over 5000 students many of whom stay with him for a very long time. In his current private student list he has 3 students who have been with him between 15 & 20 years and another 9 for between 4 and 10 years. Phil has maintained a policy to be dedicated to serve the needs of the student. He will only recommend or prescribe as he feels is necessary and strives to be sensitive to the needs, finances and comfort levels of the student.

A funny quote about me from Chris Lunn in the current Ancient Victories Magazine ..."Phil Hansen our Eastside distributor and ace musician has stepped up his game. Teaches in Enumclaw on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays Music Trader in Maple Valley, and Fridays and Saturdays NW Guitars Bellevue as well as students at his own Cassandra Music. Many Saturdays and Sundays he plays bass with the Summit Church Band; is a member of the Golden Age Mandolins and is putting back together his Acoustic Couti band now that his bass player in that group has graduated and wants to work again. Like the way Hansen eases into retirement."

I thought this was a hoot.
