On December 17, 2024, I posted the announcement that I would be closing Virginia’s Darling and Mae’s Market and Café in Alexandria. I wrote that not renewing our Lease was a result of the inability “to reach favorable
lease terms with our landlord” and we “were unable to make the economics work for both parties.” To clarify, it was not my intention to
speak on behalf of the Landlord or to imply in any way that the Landlord had been unreasonable in our Lease negotiations. Despite the Landlord offering to allow us to operate without paying Base Rent for one (1) year, we made a business decision to move.
