🌙 Tonight is Nyepi Eve — Pengerupukan — and the villages of Ubud are alive with incredible energy.

In Keliki Village, just moments from Villa Amrita, the community has been crafting these awe-inspiring ogoh-ogoh for weeks. These giant papier-mâché demons are paraded through the streets at dusk to loud gamelan music, laughter, and clouds of incense — a magnificent ritual to drive away evil spirits before Bali falls completely silent for Nyepi Day tomorrow.

If you're in Ubud tonight, step outside and experience it. If you're planning a future visit, this is exactly why Bali in March is so unforgettable.

Come experience Nyepi from the heart of Ubud. 🌸

The morning at Villa Amrita starts slowly.

Coffee arrives just as the garden wakes up. The pool waits, still and glassy, reflecting the palms above. Somewhere in the distance, birds call from the trees.

If you're visiting Ubud, there's one walk you absolutely cannot skip — the Campuhan Ridge Walk.

This gentle 2km trail follows the ridge above two rivers, passing through sea grass meadows and jungle canopy. At sunrise, mist rises from the valley below, the light turns golden, and you'll have the whole trail almost to yourself.

It takes about an hour, costs nothing, and delivers memories that stay with you long after you leave.

The best part? Villa Amrita is just 15 minutes away. Walk the ridge in the morning, then return to a freshly brewed Balinese coffee and a dip in your private pool. That's the Ubud morning we'd design for you.

There's a walk in Ubud that changes how you feel about mornings.

The Campuhan Ridge Walk is free, easy, and genuinely one of the most beautiful things you can do in all of Bali. Swaying elephant grass, river valleys wrapped in mist, ancient temples at the base, family-run warungs with views that make you forget what country you're from.

Best time: 6–8 AM. No entrance fee. No guide needed. Just good shoes, a bottle of water, and an unhurried morning.

Deep in the heart of Ubud, there's a forest that doesn't belong to us.

It belongs to them.

More than 1,260 Balinese long-tailed macaques call the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary home — along with three ancient temples dating back to the 14th century. When you step through the entrance gate, something shifts. The noise of Ubud's streets fades away. Cool jungle air wraps around you. And then the rustling begins.

You'll hear them before you see them. A flash of movement in the canopy. A young macaque leaping between moss-covered stones. A mother nursing her infant on the edge of the path, completely unbothered by the human standing two feet away.

This is one of those places that stops you mid-step and reminds you why you came to Bali in the first place.

We've just published a complete guide to visiting the Sacred Monkey Forest Ubud Bali — including what to expect from the macaques, how to explore the three temples inside, essential safety tips, entrance fees, the best time to visit, and how to combine your trip with a perfect Ubud day.

On March 18, the streets of Ubud come alive with something you have to see to believe. Communities spend months crafting Ogoh-ogoh — giant demon effigies that are paraded through the streets by firelight and gamelan drumming before being ceremonially burned at the crossroads.

The next morning? Nyepi. Bali's sacred Day of Silence. The most profound quiet you'll ever experience — the whole island falls still. Not a car, not a sound.

This year Nyepi falls on March 19. If you've been dreaming of Bali this March, this is your sign. 🌺 https://villaamrita.com

Deep in the heart of Ubud, there's a place where ancient stone temples meet living rainforest — the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. 🐒

Home to over 700 long-tailed Balinese macaques, this extraordinary place is just 10 minutes from Villa Amrita. Whether you arrive early for the golden morning light or explore the three ancient Pura temples within, it never fails to leave you speechless.

We've put together our complete visitor guide — best time to visit, what to bring, and how to make the most of your morning there.

On March 19th, something extraordinary will happen across the island of Bali.

Every car will stop. The airport will close. The streets will fall silent. For 24 hours, an entire island holds its breath — and Bali becomes the quietest place on earth.

This is Nyepi. The Balinese Day of Silence. The Saka New Year.

For travellers in Ubud during Nyepi, it is unlike anything you have experienced. No horns. No music. Just the sound of birds over the rice terraces, the breeze through the garden, and the soft crackle of an oil lamp as stars emerge above a darkened jungle canopy.

The days before are spectacular: the Melasti procession — thousands of Balinese in white carrying sacred objects to the river — and the Ogoh-Ogoh parade — enormous demon creatures paraded through firelit streets, then burned.

And then — silence.

We published a complete guide to experiencing Nyepi Day in Bali: what it means, what to expect, and how to make the most of the most extraordinary 24 hours on this island.

Twenty minutes from your villa gate, the world opens up into something extraordinary. 🌿

The Tegallalang Rice Terraces are unlike anything else. Imagine standing at the ridge as the afternoon sun dips low — golden light spilling across thousands of emerald steps carved into the hillside over centuries of Balinese tradition. The air smells of earth and rain. Somewhere below, water trickles through the ancient subak irrigation channels that have kept this valley alive for generations.

It's the kind of place that makes you stop mid-breath.

Staying at Villa Amrita means Tegallalang is practically on your doorstep. Your private driver can have you there for sunrise — before the crowds, when the mist still clings to the valley floor and the light is pure gold. Or visit at dusk and watch the terraces glow amber as the day fades.

Late March in Ubud. The light is golden, the air is warm, and the pool is waiting.

We have a rare opening at Villa Amrita from March 28–31. Three days in our private garden sanctuary — your mornings rising to birdsong, your afternoons floating in the pool, your evenings lit by candles as Ubud slowly hums around you.

The dry season is beginning to settle in. The rice terraces are vivid green. The temples are alive with ceremony. And the villa — all three bedrooms, your own chef, your own staff — would be entirely yours.

Short stays are our favourite kind. There is a different magic in knowing you have just a few precious days, so every moment counts. You show up fully. You actually slow down.

If you have been thinking about Bali, this is your window.

Reach out via the link in our bio or visit villaamrita.com. We would love to welcome you.

Your morning begins differently here.

No alarm clock. Just the soft chorus of tropical birds, the scent of frangipani drifting through the open pavilion, and the gentle warmth of Ubud's morning light touching your skin.

Roll out your mat on the garden deck. Feel the dew-kissed air. Let the sounds of the jungle — rustling palms, a distant temple bell — carry you into stillness.

At Villa Amrita, wellness is not an add-on. It is woven into every morning. Our private tropical garden becomes your personal sanctuary. The pool shimmers beside you, ready for a post-practice dip. Your chef is already preparing a nourishing breakfast using fresh local ingredients.

This is what slowing down feels like.

Ubud is home to some of Bali's finest yoga studios — just minutes from the villa — but some of our guests find they never want to leave the garden. We understand completely.

Whether you flow through a sunrise practice alone or invite a private yoga teacher to the villa, your morning ritual here will stay with you long after you return home.
