It all began in the late 1940’s when Lillian Wheatley became a household name famously known for her fish fry and Johnny Cakes. She catered to just about every festival event known in the British Virgin Islands and assisted her fellow residents of East End and Long Look at family gatherings and weddings. It was because of this Matriarch that we now enjoy “Em
ile’s”, which is named in honor of her husband the late Emile Wheatley. Emile Wheatley was a local Fisherman, Boat Builder and Sailor who steered the course for his son Mr. Emile’s opened its doors in 1994 and has been serving the BVI community ever since. The property sits on farm land which was once used to raise goats and other livestock as well as for the cultivation of various ground provisions for the local community. It was on this exact property that the BVI’s first 40 pound pumpkin was produced. This pumpkin was later sold to Little Dix Bay Resort in Virgin Gorda. On this property sits a functional well that is some 200 years old. This well was used to provide the local residents of East End and Long Look with water and continues to be used to this day. Since its inception, Emile’s has outgrown its original structure and it is now fitting to expand, to better serve its customers. Here at Emile’s we strive to ensure that each guest receives prompt, professional, friendly and courteous service, while maintaining a clean, comfortable and well cultivated premises for our guests and staff, to provide a fair price – nutritional, well-prepared meals – using only quality ingredients to ensure that all guests and staff are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve and to thank each guest for the opportunity to serve them. By maintaining these objectives we shall be assured of a fair profit that will allow us to contribute to the community we serve. We pride ourselves in presenting a unique cuisine, like no other on the island and offer our clients a variety of creative and tasteful meals. On this property sits 7 Guest Suites, two 2 Bedrooms and 5 single rooms along with an indoor fine dining restaurant and an outdoor restaurant lounge with pool and bar.
