Oreos and brownies will always be a good idea.

Friends, it’s been a minute. I’ve been trying to navigate life, albeit unsuccessfully at times, but I’m here. Still trying. The roller coaster of emotions that sweeps through you when a parent is sick is a struggle I wasn’t prepared for. There is little balance. My waistline has suffered most, but I digress. Add to that normal life, kids, husband, friends, schedules, responsibilities and it can be a down right s**t show. But then there are nights like last night where I’m hyper aware of how many wonderful women I surround myself with. How much light has been brought into my life. If you know me in real life, you know my friends, and you love them. It’s hard not to. We come together, however dim our own lights are, and make each other shine. I have different pockets of friends, and thats the recurring theme - we all want the other one to shine bright. So we share our light. I’ve seen it countless times and it has been the most remarkable display of friendship and love. I’m grateful for the awareness. I’m thankful for the gift.

Working on perfecting the classic chocolate chip cookie.

I’m off for the summer to hang with my boys - same deal as last year. But while I’m off, the boys conveniently find reasons for me to bake. Yesterday was Father’s Day (a day absolutely worthy of the mess baking makes!) and the boys had a list of things they wanted to bake for their dad. Thankfully, we agreed on two of the 10 things on their list: 1. Chocolate chip cookies and 2. Vanilla cupcakes. First up, the chocolate chip cookies.

In my spare time, I develop recipes. I’ve made many-a-batch of chocolate chip cookies that didn’t work. Actually, I’ve made a lot of a lot of things that didn’t work. But these cookies? They work! They freakin’ work! Soft, chewy, two-bites of chocolate chip heaven. I’ve had 5 (or 6? Ok, if I’m being honest, I lost track at 6, but that further proves my point 😉) cookies already and I can tell you they work! Even my husband, who is the worlds biggest critic, loves them! HUGE WIN! 🥇🙌

My husband had a wonderful day watching his boys live their best life, eating all the cookies, playing all the games, and he couldn’t have been happier. And my mama heart was beaming for all of them. This is the stuff that dreams are made of. Praying you all spent the weekend celebrating the dads in your life. And for those of you missing your dads, have dads who are far away, some even as far as heaven, I’m praying for you, too.
