Overwhelming

This past week we found out another man made product is not so good for our health. The rush to create the ultimate AI it turns out just might eat all of us. Why is it we always push the thought of “guardrails first” to the back of our priorities. We don’t raise our little ones this way, yet as we get older we are more than willing to accept the consequences be it global warming, excessive two dimensional living and the like. We need to follow our advice to our kids with better self control.

Well Oiled Machine

Businesses and teams function very well when respect is the primary focal point for their common environment. It wasn’t until unions formed in the late nineteenth century that business owners began to understand what works and what doesn’t with proper staffing procedures.
In today’s world one cannot maintain growth and fluidity in a business if this is not at the top of the list when operating.
This past weekend we paid homage to the long process it has taken to get to be better at making sure everyone is included in this objective. We still have a long way to go. Eat good food!

This was Kai, our 5 year old’s first day in kindergarten heading out. I like this photo a lot. It is a metaphor for every one of all ages. You never know what will happen.

Check

We walked our Kindergartener to school today for the first of many great walks to come. It was a short but calm walk.
Like many first in one’s life the expectation is often greater than the reality. I have to say that was due to the well prepared mom, and the well prepared staff at the school. The only emotion we as parents felt was happiness for Kai, and us, (and maybe a little empathy for his teacher). Good thing he has already started working at the markets. I can’t imagine what college will cost 13 years from now.

Breathe

Yesterday we went to check out the farm of some good friends. Maybe it was subconscious or unconsciously, I left my phone in the car.

I wanted it to take photos of one of Kai’s dream fulfillments, riding on an excavator. Not only did he ride on it, he was able to drive it, swing the bucket and dig holes. I know he was thinking of his preschool crew. That is the dream of most 3 to 5 year old boys. After jumping on several other farm toys he took a break to go swimming, then off to pick blackberries on the way to the fishing hole.
He actually became pretty good at casting a top water bait, and landed a nice 20” large mouth bass. There is still time to make a few more memories with those close to you. Next week the traffic will be back in more ways than one.

Really

Our little guy will begin Kindergarten in two weeks. The school email’s are filling our email box. The reality of infant-toddler is now a memory except for the 2 TB’s of photos slowing down our phones. We keep thinking this is great as we will now be able to appreciate the exaggerated MoCo property taxes we have been paying the past 4 years. The reality though is that we are so appreciative of the time to enjoy the process and growth of our child through this age. Upward and onward!

Relax

Two days away is not enough. Again I forgot about the White Marlin Open in Ocean City, MD. You see every year one can count on high winds to occur during this high dollar fishing tournament. Getting in the water at the beach is not an option. The OC Beach Patrol only lets one in up to their knees. Sand in the face is not very fun either. The pool was a life saver and actually the preferred choice by our little one. Eating became the main sport. Stepping out of our comfort zone and trying new options was a great call. The Cheese Wheel for Italian and Cafe Mirage for fish were winners. It turned out a couple of days saved our scale a lot of stress. Eat good food! Enjoy

Every weekend I am lucky to engage with friends from my markets. Yesterday,
a good friend that is a math teacher at G’town U, was describing a math problem he is working on calculating the year all permafrost will be gone. It doesn’t look good folks. Another was recalling how their business has significantly deteriorated in the past year and a half due to government layoffs. I myself found a loaded and forgotten fi***rm on the shelf in front of me in the bathroom from a national guard person that took it off while using it themselves at market. No bueno.
What is great though is that we all get to experience the free calmness of the moon this week.

“The moon, it takes us by the hand and guides us through the night until the morning’s light. The moon, humble. It never ask for anything in return.”

We would like to encourage all to give feedback on how we are doing. We would like to know what we can do better. This year we started using Blue Catfish for our fish cakes. The feedback has been great.
The nutritional panel for these cakes is insanely positive. More protein, and Omega-3, than any other fish. Less calories and fat than any other fish, and the cakes taste great! Please respond to this email directly with your thoughts. Eat good food! Enjoy

No way!

So since I posted a few weeks ago about Panama and it producing the best bananas in the world Giant has had them in consistently. So much so my wife commented, please quit buying bananas, we have enough for a month. I just can’t stop though. I am eating another as I’m writing this post. Could it be someone from Giant management is reading my post? If so, will you please go back and read the one about the fish cakes we are making with Blue Catfish that are absolutely amazing! If you are a banana lover and don’t shop at Giant, at least make a stop and treat yourself. I don’t believe the dream will last.
