I don’t know about you guys, but we’re tired of the RAIN! We’re cancelling our second day this week. It brings up the topic of, what do we do when it’s raining?

We will always try to go out. If there’s a chance of light rain, we may just sit and wait out passing showers. Or keep rolling. Heavy rain, or prolonged rain, would shut us down. When the rain is quite certain, we will cancel before going out.

The moment I decide to cancel a route, I update the calendar. I won’t send a text if we’re canceling either. So if you know your zone was today, but you don’t get a text, and it’s rainy out, check the calendar.

As always, we appreciate your support! We will do our best to get to everyone on our existing rotation. Canceling our route on the last day of school was not on my bingo card! Sorry!

Hopefully the weather will start to cooperate! If it’s going to rain, it needs to be between 9pm and 11am! 😂 Stay dry!

Schedule for this week:

We had a busy weekend, which caused us to push the zones around. Here is the current plan.

Monday - Zone 7
Tuesday - Cancelled - Rain/Cold
Wednesday - Zone 1
Thursday - Zone 2
Friday - Centerview and Concordia
Saturday - Higginsville, Zone 3 and hopefully Zone 8
Sunday - Lexington and TBD

As you probably have noticed, during school we’ve been sending 2 trucks to the same zone so we can get it all in one evening. When school is out, we will be doing 1 truck per zone, and start around 2:-3:00, depending on the zone. That’s the summer routine. And if that’s too early, we alternate running the route forwards and backwards. So if you’re at the beginning, one week you could be at 2:30, the next week it’ll be closer to 8:00.

Remember that the tracker link that I send with every text alert will appear to not work until a truck logs in. So just keep refreshing until a truck appears. I try to let you know when I expect the trucks to start.

Weather has been an issue for us lately, so we’re doing our best to dodge the rain and get to everyone in a timely manner.

This is dependent upon weather, but it's looking much more dry coming up.

NOTE: The text alert feature is not two-way communication. If you text that number, I will not see it unless I log in and look for it. It's intended to just be an alert. If you need to communicate, Facebook messenger is the best.

Also note: The tracker link that I send out with every text only works when we're on route. It will be blank until a truck logs in, then you just refresh. I have a pinned post about how the tracker works if you need it.

I'm running out of pictures to use on social media. If you have pictures of you and your family getting ice cream from the truck, and are ok with me using it to share, please send those to me. Messenger or email is best, and thank you in advance!

Happy Easter! I know neither of these look like my truck, but AI is still working on it!

We have both trucks running today! One is in Odessa, the other is in Warrensburg Zone 1. I realize some people are out of town visiting family for the holiday. But others may have out of town family visiting them here! So whether you’re in Zone 1 or not, gather the family after your egg hunt, open the tracker, and head out on an Ice Cream Truck hunt! Fun for the whole family!

We’re here at Ridgeview elementary for the Old Drum Animal Shelter fundraiser! It’s a little cool today, but we’d love for you to stop by and see us! And of course support your local animal shelter! 🐶

Today (Friday) we’re going to attempt go outrun the incoming rain! Since the kiddos are out of school today, we’re starting early.

First, both trucks will run through Zone 5, starting at 12:00. They’ll start on each end and work toward the middle, getting to everyone somewhere around 3:30.

Then, if the rain isn’t on our doorstep, we’ll send both trucks to work Zone 6. We’ll stop when we’re done, or the rain gets too close.
