Time to adjust the lighting set up for the tulips.
🌷 🌷 🌷 💡 💡 🌷 🌷 🌷
We want straight tall stems, so we have doubled the light on this bed and we doubled the spread.
This also means double the heat but with our weather forecast here in SW Oklahoma we welcome another way to keep this room warm.
Tonight we will likely fall below 20 degrees outside but this room will be a balmy 58F or so.
Lucky them! Happy tulips are pretty tulips 🥰🌷

This year I am obsessed creating fresh flawless tulips! I want long stems and bright blooms so I’ll be babying these little beauties for the next five to six weeks. I’ll keep temperatures between 50-62 and the humidity low to prevent any molds.
I am also so excited we doubled our planting up to 2,000 bulbs; I just can’t wait to share these flowers with all of you! 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

Let’s talk hydroponic tulips 🌷💦🌷💦🌷💦
I tried this system last year but without the trays and my success rate was pretty low.
This year I’ve invested into the proper equipment and better quality bulbs.
I’ve seen some cultivators growing hundreds of tulips in their basement using this method, and I’m determined to figure it out.
Also I’m super interested to see the quality of flower from the hydroponic system vs. worm rich soil.
2026 might be a serious year of note taking📝🌷😅

What an event to remember last night! The black and gold theme did not go to waste and who doesn’t love bows at Christmas!
Thank you and Renee for letting us have so much creative freedom to put this all together! Altus has some of the best people and we are so happy and proud to be a part of this community!

Tuber Harvest! Check out these beautiful Great Hercules Dahlia tubers we are saving for next year!
After I lifted them I cut off the small roots, rinsed thoroughly and now have stored in an open box with pine shavings in an area that won’t freeze.

So for you following closely, I saved my giant pumpkin for next week’s project. That said, I couldn’t resist the urge to create a little something special and you can see it tomorrow afternoon!
This beautiful pumpkin is from and filled with only plants grown or foraged on our small local farm.
I love how big the orange dahlia blooms are getting with this beautiful weather! And more rain in the forecast! Yay! 😁
