It was how we “first met” and certainly, an “iconic” chapter of my life; but it was the right time to say goodbye and retire from the markets. This is my kind reminder to many of you who may be searching all over the Downtown Farmers Market Saturday for Salsa Guy Cafe products and of course, our world-famous breakfast burritos.

19 years was the perfect duration for us. We ARE NOT at the market this year and quite frankly, have our hands full keeping up with hungry folks at the cafe! Great problems for sure!

I’ve bumped into so many of you in the last couple days who were looking forward to the first market of the year tomorrow...

Just know we have burritos and fresh baked cinnamon rolls ready and fast at the Blairs Ferry Road Salsa Guy Cafe and even faster at our drive thru window.

But by all means: GO ENJOY THE MARKET TOO!

My favorite Salsa Guy T-Shirt of all time: “The Salsa Guy’s Burritos Are Amazing! But nobody goes there anymore, THE LINES ARE TOO LONG!“

THANKS for making us famous and loved!

Today thru Saturday LOCO Cedar Rapids Delivery is offering YOU $10.00 off any delivery orders for Salsa Guy Cafe!

What is not to love about this? Use the code: Save$10

If you have yet to try this locally owned enterprise, please give them an order and enjoy our amazing food delivered right to your door!

Also - PSA for those who used Grub Hub in the past. I asked them to have our address changed for deliveries one month ago. Do you think their customer service team could simply perform this simple act and move our pick up point from Mt. Vernon Road to Blairs Ferry Road?

Nope. Nuthin. Nada.

This is why LOCO Cedar Rapids is worth it! I know the owner and CEO has hopped in his own car to drive to our cafe when they got behind on orders and PERSONALLY made the delivery!

Would this ever happen with one of the national delivery services?

Not in a BA-ZILLION years!

Local matters. Please show your support!!

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
~ Isaiah 6:8

This Memorial Day, let's take a precious, still moment during this day to remember the brave men and women who answered that same call.

They heard the voice of duty — of God and country — and said, “Send me.” They left homes, families, and futures behind to defend liberty on distant battlefields.

Some never returned. Their sacrifice was total. Their “Here am I” became eternal.

Today we honor their courage, their faith, and the freedom they secured for us. We owe them a debt we can never fully repay — only remember and live worthy of.

To every Gold Star family, every veteran who carried the weight: Thank you.

May we never forget those who said “Send me”… and meant it with their lives

YOU ARE ALL INVITED!

And I extend an extra special invitation to my Antioch Church family as well! Monday, (Memorial Day) from 5-8 we’re gathering our family and friends at Salsa Guy Cafe, looking to help fundraise a Mission Trip for Aron and Raquel Fox to Kenya next month! We are asking you to make a considerate donation and I’ll also contribute from the proceeds of Monday evenings sales as well.

Bonus! Issac Scott will be here playing his original music from 5:30-7:30. He is a HUGE talent and I’m honored that he’s agreed to play for us!

Thank you!
YOU inspired ME!

I have to start with the provenance of this story: Many, many years ago, I was honored to teach a variety of cooking classes at New Pioneer Co-Op’s Coralville store. You made me feel special by selling out my classes in a day, scheduling another class that sold out in the same day and then sharing your cooking stories with me YEARS later. THEY NEVER GET OLD!

Someone was at Salsa Guy Cafe yesterday who has been making wood fired oven pizza for years now, using the dough recipe that I shared when I taught the very popular SourDough Baking class. This person wasn’t even in the class, the recipe was handed down by someone who did. I love that!

Yes, I have a starter that goes back decades, involving wild grapes picked from the banks of Big Creek (my creek!) in Bertram where I grew up and then also, wild blueberries picked on the shores of Lake Michigan in the late 90’s.

I went home last night and made a wood fired oven pizza.
I truly have no words to describe how that first bite simply stopped me cold and put my mind into another dimension. Think gratitude. I am so lucky to know SO MANY GREAT PEOPLE!

I marvel every day. You are the gift to me!

Yes, now comes the food. It’s a pizza I could eat every day. Note to self: 3x a week starting yesterday!

Sourdough crust, uncured pepperoni, fresh heirloom tomato, fresh basil, 4 different types of high moisture cheese, red onion, the best cracked pepper and olive oil that money can buy, Lindstrom’s honey fresh from the hive and toasted pistachios.

Eyeballs rolled into the back of my head……WHAT A DAY!
