⭐️Finally we can share our exciting news⭐️

Today we officially closed on a commercial property in Milan (technically SW Rock Island ...810 78th Ave West, RI) as a permanent spot to operate our food truck!!! Lots of work to do, details to iron out and city "stuff" to go through but we are hoping to be running by March.

We learned alot through our first 3 summers of the food truck life! As a smoked meats truck we feel being in one place will ease a lot of the stresses we encountered. We'll still do larger and multi day events, but we plan on being at our location the rest of the time, part time but more than one day a week!!🍗💨🔥

We are SO grateful to the folks that took a chance on us and allowed us to pull up at your business!!! We truly loved every spot and have made some great relationships. THANK YOU 🫶🏼

Lastly I want to say it's been one heck of a year for us! We are very blessed that Les made it through what he did and to say his is ecstatic to get back at it is an understatement!! 💪❤️‍🩹

We appreciate all of you and can't wait to see your faces again!🥰

Hello!!! Happy New Year to our wonderful Bbq friends! First off I want to thank everyone that has reached out in the last 9 months, it means so much and shows us this is much more than just a business❤️

Also thank you all for your continued patience, giving Les time to fully heal and us time to navigate our new circumstances. He has been on the smoker a bit this winter, keep his Smoke'n skills hot 😉 💨🔥🍗

I wanted to tell everyone to stay tuned and keep an eye on our page, we will be having some news to share soon! We're excited and hope you will be too, Les is definitely ready to get back to it 💪❤️‍🩹

😩 When I tell you THIS was the one event we've been talking about all year. We were coming for that 1st place baby!🥇🍗🔥💨

Last year we narrowly missed 1st and took 2nd in our very first competition ever. It was literally just Les and I, prepping, cooking, smoking and serving. We served over 700 meals, the line was insane 😜

Unfortunately, Les is not quite back to be able to handle that kind of prep and a day that long just yet. Hopefully, we'll come back even better next year 💪

Until then, get yourselves down there this weekend!!! The folks that put this on are amazing and all the other food trucks are awesome. Les and I plan on going and trying as many as we can 😋

Here's a few pics from last year, we are still so grateful for all the support 🥰

Hi there!!! I figured it was time for another life update 😊 We are 10 weeks out from Les's open heart surgery. He is doing really well but this is definitely a slow and steady kind of healing process! He has a few weeks of cardiac therapy left and will be cleared for an over 10 lbs weight limit in about 3 weeks.

We really have no clue what the food truck business will look like this summer, if at all. It's going to be a bit of a financial strain, but after something like this, there is no amount of money you can put ahead of health and solid recovery ❤️‍🩹

That being said I have 2 favors to ask!! I am downsizing my salon so we are selling the building. If you would please share the link below and spread the word that there is a very cute and modern building for sale! If someone is interested in it as a salon it's fully equipped, otherwise it a perfect space for retail, office space or even could be converted into a community commissary for local food vendors. Just an idea 🤷🏻‍♀️😘

The second is, we have tossed around the idea of doing one big event towards the ends of the summer, sort of a fundraiser/cerebration type thing for us/Les. Just a thought at this point, not even sure if he'll be able. But mainly just asking if you would save a space in your food truck loving hearts for Backyard Smoke'n .....if and when we do come back 🍗🔥💨 ❤️

Here's the building link 🥰

HELLO!!! Yes we are still here! I'm sharing some personal information below ⬇️ because it's effecting the start of our season. We will be back and I'll keep you posted on here. It may look a little different but we can't wait to get back out there Smoke'n the good stuff for you 🫶🏼🔥💨🍗

Well, we've got a crazy life update we'd like to share..... this is a long one!

Saturday March 1st after hitting the gym, Les was oddly sore later in the day. Thinking he pulled a muscle in his back. He took ibuprofen, went on with his day. On his way up to bed a stabbing sharp pain took him to his knees. I was up in Chicago so he drove himself to the ER.

During testing, it revealed that he had an aneurysm in his ascending aorta. A big one, ER Dr said it was a 6cm, surgery is a must on anything larger than a 5.5.

We initially made an appointment with a surgeon in Iowa City, first counsel visit scheduled for 3/17. Because of insurance paperwork confusion that appointment got denied which lead us to be referred to Dr Chaudhry here in RI.

At our first consultation appointment with him on 3/10, we mentioned Les's back pain (it's been 9 days off and on, meds didn't touch it, neither of us had slept) Dr immediately said they were admitting him that day and surgery will be that week. He literally got wheeled out of his office directly to the hospital.

Les had open heart surgery Thursday 3/13. Complete removal and replacement of the ascending aorta and the aortic valve. He was back there for about 7 hours, surgery was successful!

Once we got to talk with the Dr, he told him it was actually at an 8, that he no idea how it hadn't burst. The aorta had already started tearing, that was the sharp pain on 3/1 and week long back pain that followed.

It was made very clear that Les most likely wouldn't have made it waiting for the Iowa City appointment. I can not say enough about Dr Chaudhry, his PA Kristin Raya and every single nurse in SICU and on the 7th floor at Trinity in RI were absolutely amazing!!

Greatful, thankful and blessed for everyone involved. From the positive thoughts, prayers, vibes from friends and family, to the amazing hands of Dr. Chaudhry who's just walking around this earth saving lives.

Les is now home. Recovery is going to be a long one but as we keep saying, compared to the alternative, we'll take it ❤️

This pic is from Monday when he got home. Made it back in time to see our granddaughter before they headed back to Des Moines (Mav was able to visit in hospital 😊) absolutely filled his (new and improved) heart!

Hello!!!! We ARE still here 😂 I hope everyone out there is doing fantastic. Thought I would come on here to give a quick Backyard Smoke'n life update!!

First and foremost please welcome our second grandchild Zyla Monroe 🥰 Born Friday 11//1 coming in at a mighty 5 lbs 13oz. We are all so in love, especially big brother!

Also it was definitely the right decision to shut the food truck down early this season. We have sold our house and have been packing and now moving in the little spare time we have 😜 So once we settle in we'll be back with some catering through the winter months.

Thanks for hanging in there with us and our crazy schedule!! We are looking forward to getting back to some normalcy and Smoke'n up some good stuff for you all! 🔥💨🍗

Sounds about right! ✌️❤️🔥💨🍗

Hey everyone!! Life's kinda gotten crazy and clearly I've been slacking on getting on here!

We were going to be doing an event this weekend but we decided to cancel for a family opportunity!! Our apologies but it's one of those things we just don't want to miss ❤️

Right now we do not have anything on the calendar for the rest of the season, as we have our house up for sale. That does not mean we won't be doing any events. We are just not pre-booking and I will post on here when we do.

But we know Les will definitely be out there Smoke'n 💨😜so stay tuned! We're going to have some days where he'll smoke up some ribs, brisket, or pulled pork. We'll sell by the slab or by the pound and have a specific pick up date/place. So be on the lookout for that! 🫡😋

Until then thank you for your patience and all the continued support! We understand we do things different than other trucks out there, we're so grateful and blessed to have you with us along the way as we figure out this crazy adventure 😜❤️

All set! One pan of Mac left and if you haven't had these sausages yet, come get it one! If you know you KNOW 😋
