A goal we’ve been working toward is becoming a reality! 🐥🌱

We’re so excited to finally be able to offer pasture-raised chicken from Nest & Crumb Farmstead!

Our Cornish Cross chicks officially arrived this week, and we’ll have a limited number of whole chickens available this fall.

They’ll be raised here on our farm, moved regularly onto fresh pasture as they grow, and fed a 22% Non-GMO Project Verified broiler ration.

Processing is planned for mid-November, with finished birds expected to average around 5–8 lbs.

Whole chickens will be $6/lb.

Before we open official reservations, we’re gathering interest so we can get an idea of how many birds our customers would like.

If you’d like to stock your freezer, comment or message us with approximately how many you’d be interested in! We’ll follow up soon with reservation and deposit details.

We’re only raising one batch this year, so quantities will be limited.

Finally got the spring garden in! Now to do all the inside chores I’ve neglected while enjoying the lovely sunny days outside!

We have several broody hens…I’m taking advantage of Mother Nature and put some of my color project eggs under them…of course after I said “no new chicks this year!” I should know better. 😅

Still getting lots of beautiful eggs and have plenty for sale! Hatching and eating, chicken as well as duck!

Heavy Bloom Pastel Hatching Eggs!

Offering a couple sets of hatching eggs from my heavy bloom color project flock. These hens are producing some beautiful pastel tones — sage greens, soft blues, pale pinks, creams, and speckled tans.

Several of the layers carry a heavy bloom, which gives some eggs that silvery grey or army-green look before the bloom is washed off. It’s something I’ve been selecting for in this line.

Roosters currently running with the flock:
• 3rd gen Naked Neck from a heavy bloom line
• Black Jersey Giant

Eggs are collected daily, under 7 days old, unwashed, and stored properly.
