Today The BBQ Channel went to The Brisket Shoppe in Tampa to see what all the Hype was about. Let me tell you… it lived up to all the hype and then some. See “The Feast” in front of you. Holy cow it was over the top Greatness!!! The meat was all incredibly moist and seasoned to perfection. You know the BBQ is slow smoked when you have a perfect smoke ring on your meat. The sides were all great too, this is a must to add to your BBQ taste testing. The BBQ Channel give’s The Brisket Shoppe a 5 PIG Review….

We wanted to do something different today. One of our loyal BBQ Fans shared a great recipe for us to try. Special thanks to Roy Meyer for sharing.

Disneyland Famous Smoked Turkey Legs Recipe for a Meat Smoker

This recipe is as close to getting a Turkey Leg at Disneyland without actually going to the park!

Ingredients:
8 turkey legs

Brine:
1 gallon water
1 C. kosher salt
1/2 C. sugar
2 Tbsp onion powder
1 Tbsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp chili powder
1 Tbsp paprika
1 Tbsp ground pepper
1 tsp rubbed sage
1 tsp ground cumin

Turkey Drumstick Spice Rub:
3 Tbsp onion powder
2 Tbsp paprika
1 Tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp ground pepper
1 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp rubbed sage
3 Tbsp vegetable or light olive oil

Instructions: Rinse turkey legs in cold water, pat dry. For brine, combine brine ingredients in large pan. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat, cover, and let cool to room temperature. Pour into container (a large, clean bucket works well) and refrigerate brine until cold (approximately 35-40 degrees F).

Place the turkey legs into brine. Let soak four to six hours. Remove legs, rinse well, and discard brine. Dry drumsticks well with paper towels.

In small bowl, combine spice rub ingredients with fork til well mixed. Rub onto turkey legs. Let drumsticks sit out for about one hour. Place turkey legs into smoker at 225 degrees F. A light-flavored wood is best for turkey.

Smoke legs for four to six hours, til meat is nearly falling off the bone. Remove legs from smoker, and let rest for half an hour. Devour greedily.

The BBQ Channel went to Bricks Smoked Meats in downtown Sarasota. We started out the evening with Bacon Burnt Ends.... WOW! So amazing! I had the 2 meat combo including their USDA Prime Brisket and the St. Louis Ribs. The brisket is a slow Smoked for 14 hours and let me tell you the bark was fantastic! Talk about some very flavorful brisket. The ribs were perfectly smoked and did not need any sauce, which is always a sign on good ribs. For sides I had the State Street Corn it was corn in a cup but let me tell you what’s inside! The corn was mixed with crema, chipotle, lime, jalapeño and some scallions. Trust me it was an empty cup once I had one bite lol my other side was their Smoked Poblano Slaw it was a fantastic coleslaw! It is a full service restaurant with great craft beers and cocktails to match. The BBQ Channel gives them a 4 Pig rating.

Well for Thanksgiving this year I smoked a prime rib. Let me tell you yum! I smoked it for four and a half hours and pulled it off the smoker at 135 degrees it was perfect! A little dissatisfied with the lack of bark on the edges. Overall it was a huge success if I say so myself. Happy thanksgiving everyone.

The BBQ Channel went to Johnson Family Barbeque in Plant City FL. I had the sliced moist smoked brisket and the sausage and onions. Now for sides I went with the sweet coleslaw and sweet potato casserole. The Brisket was excellent! It had a great smokey flavor, nice and moist and not over cooked. The sausage and onions were good but not great they reminded me of something that should have been on a breakfast menu. The sides were great!! If you are in Plant City FL I would recommend stopping in. The BBQ Channel gives them a 4 Pig rating.

This evening The BBQ channel stopped in at Red Cow Barbeque in Ft Lauderdale, Florida for some top ranked BBQ. Opted for moist brisket and jalapeño sausage with grilled corn on the cob and cowboy mashed potatoes. The meal smelled delicious from a distance as the waitress walked the tray over. I could not wait to chow down. Everything was excellent, including the southern sweet tea. If you are in the area, this place is a must.

The BBQ Channel went to Earls Rib Palace in Bricktown Oklahoma City. I had the Earl's Binge which was a huge portion! I had the Brisket but it was over cooked, I had the Ribs which were good and the Best part was the Smoked Bologna lol Yep smoked bologna. The place is decorated awesome and the service was awesome! The BBQ Channel gives them a 3 Pig rating.
