The French Press is one of the easiest, most-convenient brewing methods. It’s portable, quick, and super consistent, making it the perfect choice for beginners and brewmasters alike! Whether you’re just starting out or looking for a refresher, we’ve got you covered:
You’ll Need:
- 50 grams of coarse ground coffee
- 500 grams of hot water (around 210 degrees F)
- French Press
- Scale
- Timer
Instructions:
1. Prep:
Start by preheating your water. We recommend using a 1:10 ratio of coffee to water (equal to about 2 cups).
To preheat the French Press, pour some hot water around the inside, and then dump the excess.
Grind 50 grams of coffee (we recommend a coarse grind), place your French Press on the scale, and tare.
2. Brewing
Remove the lid of your French Press and add your coffee grounds. Then, pour 500 grams of hot water, and stir to ensure everything is saturated. Allow 4 minutes to brew.
Once ready, move from the scale to a stable surface, place the lid on, and push the plunger down. But make sure you don’t push the filter down all the way. You just want to keep coffee grounds from escaping, flattening them can over-extract and make your coffee bitter!
We recommend either drinking immediately, or transferring to another container. (The coffee will continue to brew if you leave it in the French Press). Enjoy!
