This is the worst thing that could have possibly happened. Thank God that there were at least witnesses to this.
Had stopped at the intersection in front of CVS where Haddock Road and Boone Avenue intersects, heading out to 40. Had stopped at the stop sign, looked both ways and proceeded to pull forward. Out of nowhere, this person just barrels through and hits me, flipping my car, throwing me against the window and, as far as I can tell, have totalled my car.
I cannot recover from this...
I have been living in complete poverty for the last few years. There were days where we didn't even eat sometimes, simply so the kids could eat a bigger and more filling portion when we made dinner. My father is dying of terminal stage 4 lung cancer. Knowing that he didn't have much time left, he attempted to do something to try and give me a fighting chance in life by giving me this car. I took a 27 hour trip on a Greyhound bus to get it with the main goal in mind being to use it to attempt to make life better for myself. To be able to get to the appointments we needed to go to, to find a way to make money and to make sure that I could get myself out of the situation life had handed me. And I found that with this business.
When I saw that the opportunity existed for me to create this business, I went for it. I was able to take a simple idea that I had and try to make something out of it, and I did. I created something that I was not only good at, but that provided help to the people of our community. I was able to meet so many people and help them with this business. My little silly idea blossomed into a full fledged business, and just when it started to gain more and more traction, the carelessness of another person ripped it away from me.
What's gonna happen to all of the businesses I partnered with that relied on me? What's gonna happen to the people I helped get to work or school and back? What's going to happen to my family? How am I going to pay rent now? How will I make it to my probation officer's office to do the mandatory meetings I have to do? How am I going to feed everyone? This car was literally the only thing that was able to fix my life. It was the only way I was able to take care of us. It was everything. And now, I have nothing.
I spent every single day from morning to night dedicated to growing this business. I was good at it. You can't find a single bad review on me. 100% recommendation rating. And what did I get in return for it? I got it all tore away from me, right when it was getting seen by all the right people. Right when it was catching on.
I have no fallback plan. I couldn't afford to. The only option I had was to take this car and try to do something with it that could change my life. And I did. But life is cruel. It will allow you to get just enough of a taste of success for it to hurt when you have something you legitimately worked on growing 24/7 torn away from you.
I'm pretty much devastated. I am so lost. I have no idea what I am going to do at this point. We will become homeless. We can't survive without this business. Our bills were so behind from before I started this business that I had been working on just getting them current. Now, there is no way to fix anything. There is no rescue.
I always said without you there is no Delivery Dude, Camden County. And I meant that from the bottom of my heart. I just wanted to do something good for this community. I wanted to provide a service that everyone loved and that helped people. I can't believe this has happened. And I have no backup options.
This looks like the end. An abrupt ending. One that legitimately came out of nowhere. I was so proud of myself. I wanted to push this as far as it could go. I wanted to make something out of it and be successful.
Thank you to everyone who gave my business a chance and trusted me with their money, their orders, or their life when I gave them a ride. Thank you to everyone who tipped me and made me feel appreciated. Thank you to everyone who got to know me past just being "The Delivery Dude" and became legitimately the first friends I had since moving here 6 years ago...
Please pray for my family. I don't know how I am going to take care of us now. I'm so scared.
This was all I had...
I'm so sorry.
