Today wasn’t about talking about supporting Black-owned businesses.

It was about doing it.

Between Uber runs, I made it a point to spend my dollars with Black-owned businesses across our community. From Cajun Seduction, to Guido’s in Mississippi BBQ, to filling up at the Black-owned gas station at Natural Bridge and Kingshighway.

Juneteenth is tomorrow, but economic freedom isn’t something we celebrate one day a year. It’s something we practice.

Every dollar we spend is a vote for the businesses, neighborhoods, and futures we want to see thrive.

Today I cast my votes.
