We invite you to learn more. Our ministry seeks to follow the example of Christ by aiding homeless, poor and disenfranchised women in rising out of poverty so that they can stand solidly on their own two feet in the security of Christ. Our mission is to reveal Christ and make known the facts of the Gospel through group support and fellowship, individual discipleship and job training. We seek to enable women trapped in poverty to improve, renew, heal and maintain spiritual, mental, emotional and physical health. Thank you for your interest and support!

Mission: Christ Kitchen is a job-training project providing work, instruction, discipleship, support, and fellowship for women living in poverty in the Spokane area. Through the production and sales of gourmet dried food products and catered meals, this project enables women to learn to work, to become employable and, eventually, to support themselves and their families without reliance on government programs or destructive relationships. Christ Kitchen recognizes the myriad of issues making employment and self-sufficiency difficult for women in poverty. We offer a work setting in which any willing woman can gain skills and competencies which in turn improve their confidence and self-image. Helping low-income women learn the love of Christ and achieve emotional and mental stability as they become self-reliant, stable workers and citizens is the goal of our growing community.

There's a special day to celebrate donuts, so it only makes sense that there should be a special day to give recognition to Bagels. Fortunately for bagel lovers, that day has thankfully arrived. Why National Bagel Day is so special, that some people refer to it as a "Hole-y Event!"

Depending upon who you talk to and what you read, the word bagel and the recipe originates in different areas and a different times. In some places, bagels are spelled "biegels". Some folks say the word "bagel" comes from the German word "Bougel", dating back to the 16th century. But, it is believed that the recipe for bagels evolved from the ringed Polish bread "Obwarzanek", which was invented in the late 14th century. In Krakow, Poland, they were given as gifts to women after childbirth.

Personally, we don't care too much what it is called, or how it came to be. We are just thankful that there's plenty of bagels for all of us! As for flavor choice, I'll take mine with everything! The gals at CHrist Kitchen make a DELICIOUS bagel sandwiches, for breakfast and lunch! Stop in and get yours today!

Happy New Year’s Eve Prayer:

Dear God, thank You that You make all things new. Thank You for all that You have allowed into our lives this past year, the good along with the hard things, which have reminded us how much we need You and rely on Your presence filling us every single day.

We pray for Your Spirit to lead us each step of this New Year. We ask that You guide our decisions and turn our hearts to deeply desire You above all else. We ask that You open doors needing to be opened and close the ones needing to be shut tight. We ask that You help us release our grip on the things to which You have said “no,” “not yet,” or “wait.” We ask for help to pursue You first, above every dream and desire You have put within our hearts.

We ask for Your wisdom, for Your strength and power to be constantly present within us. We pray You would make us strong and courageous for the road ahead. Give us ability beyond what we feel able, let Your gifts flow freely through us, so that You would be honored by our lives, and others would be drawn to You.
We pray that You would keep us far from the snares and traps of temptations. That You would whisper in our ear when we need to run, and whisper in our heart when we need to stand our ground.

We pray for Your protection over our families and friends. We ask for Your hand to cover us and keep us distanced from the evil intent of the enemy; that You would be a barrier to surround us, that we would be safe in Your hands.

We pray that You would give us discernment and insight beyond our years, to understand Your will, hear Your voice, and know Your ways. We ask that You keep our footsteps firm, on solid ground, helping us to be consistent and faithful.

Give us supernatural endurance to stay the course, not swerving to the right or to the left, or being too easily distracted by other things that would seek to call us away from a close walk with You.

Keep Your words of truth planted firm within us, help us to keep focused on what is pure and right, give us the power to be obedient to Your word. And when the enemy reminds us where we have been, hissing his lies and attacks our way, we trust that Your voice speaks louder and stronger, as You remind us, we are safe with You and Your purposes and plans will not fail. We ask that You will be our defense and rear guard, keeping our way clear, removing the obstacles, and covering the pitfalls. Lord, lead us on Your level ground.

We ask that You provide for our needs, we ask for Your grace and favor. We pray for Your blessings to cover us; we pray that You would help us to prosper and make every plan that You have birthed in our heart to succeed. We pray that others would take notice of Your goodness and could not help but to say, “These are the ones that the Lord has blessed.”

Help us to be known as great givers, help us to be generous and kind, help us to look to the needs of others and not be consumed by only our own. May we be lovers of truth, may the fruits of Your spirit be evident in our lives - Your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Shine Your light in us, through us, over us. May we make a difference in this world, for Your glory and purposes. Set You way before us. May all Your plans succeed. We may reflect Your peace and hope to a world that so desperately needs Your presence and healing.

To You be glory and honor, in this New Year, and forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Happy New Years Eve from all of us at Christ Kitchen.

Testimony:

"Christ Kitchen is an amazing ministry. It is a place of love and support for women who have been through or have suffered from great trauma in their lives, as I have.

The leadership of Kim Kelly and Colby Fetters have made such an impact on my life, so much so that I will be forever changed and blessed by.

The feeling of walking into a “judgement free zone” and being loved and accepted by the beautiful women of The Kitchen is such a gift from God.

Being a faith-based environment is so important in laying down a solid foundation. Providing for my daughter has helped me to start to heal and to find my confidence and my value.

I have a way to go, but I now trust in the Lord that I will continue to grow in Him and heal. That is all because of the ministry of Christ Kitchen.

My name is Debbie, and Hope for healing is what Christ Kitchen is to me. Thank you for investing into my life through your support of Christ Kitchen. "

Thank you for being a sustainer of HOPE to the women like Debbie at Christ Kitchen. We are so grateful for you! Happy New Year from all of us at Christ Kitchen.

Christmas Testimony:

“Back in May 2011 I was arrested for drugs possession with intent to sell. I had no hope, my children did not live with me, I was lost and broken.

Dec 2011 I “stumbled” by Christ Kitchen to learn to provide for me and my kids. I was attending the school right across the street.

Christ Kitchen not only accepted me, but little did everyone there know, they were part of the start of a restoration process in my life.

I was beat down by the world and was truly desperate. I was taught how to be self-sufficient, and Christ reliant and I found my self worth because I found compassion, acceptance and forgiveness.

Even though I was raised in a Christian church I never really could understand or grasp the love of Christ, until Jan, Kari, Jen, Kim, and many others showed me nothing but love and grace.

I am eternally grateful for Christ Kitchen and the healing I found there. I am now stable emotionally, spiritually, and financially because of the foundation I learned at Christ Kitchen!

Thank you for supporting Christ Kitchen, you were a part of changing my life. Merry Christmas!”

Thank you for investing into the lives of the women at Christ Kitchen. We need you to continue to do what we are call to do. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus to women like Nativia! Merry Christmas!

Christmas Testimony:

"Hello, my name is Kristin. I am so grateful for Christ kitchen. The love, support, discipleship, and mentorship that I received while there is unlike anything I have ever had in my life.

And even now, I have graduated from the kitchen into full time employment with benefits and I still have all the love and support I had while there.

Christ Kitchen truly saved my life and made my transition back into society a success.

I believe in Christ kitchen and feel it is important for this community, because they are Christ centered, and help women get back on their feet and restart.

Christ Kitchen truly has the power to save the lives of the women who go there. I know this from personal experience.

The leaders at the Kitchen truly are doing God’s work and making the world a better place. I went there broken and lost and I received love and godly direction. I absolutely love this ministry and appreciate the donors that support the work there and volunteers who believe in it.

Thank you and Merry Christmas."

Thank you for investing in the lives of women like Kristin. We could not do what we do without YOU!

Christmas Testimony:

"Hello my name is Cassie and I am grateful. Christ Kitchen is a very important part of my testimony. A place filled with hope, joy, love and kindness.

While working for Christ Kitchen and being a part of the ministry I learned a lot about Jesus and was taught that my story mattered and that my witness to Jesus Christ and the way that he changed my life would bring others to him as well.

I felt loved and cared for. I learned many skills that I could use for employment and I am using those skills in the work field that I am in today.

Christ Kitchen has made me feel that I am worthy, that I am wanted and that I could live a life full of joy and happiness, also that I am not alone. With the support from all the ladies at Christ Kitchen I am never alone... I have Jesus and them! ❤

Thank you Jesus for bringing me to the ministry of Christ Kitchen and giving me the support of all my sisters in Christ there. Without Him and all his blessings I don't know where I would be today."

Thank you for being supporting this ministry and being a sustainer of HOPE and change to women like Cassie, and the children that rely on her for survival.

We know that we could not do what we are called to do, if it weren't for the faithful Saints have walked alongside Christ Kitchen and the work that God does here for over two decades. Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Fun Fact: Pastries date back to ancient times: the ancient Egyptians made pastry dough out of grain meal and flour and sweetened it with honey, and the ancient Greeks and Romans made sweets out of paper-thin pastry dough (the predecessor to what we now know as phyllo dough). Pastries traveled to Europe in medieval times, where they added fats like butter and shortening to make a sturdier dough. You’ll find pastries in pretty much every culture you can think of, but pastries became incredibly refined in French kitchens during the 18th century.
