I am Alice Koh, a Straits Born Chinese or Peranakan Nyonya from Malacca (Melaka), Malaysia. “Peranakan” refers to a person of mixed Chinese and Malay/Indonesian heritage. With this heritage and cultural background, food is essentially a way of life. I am excited to introduce Malaysian cuisines to Spokane by cooking and catering at Feast World Kitchen.

Cucur Udang (Shrimps Fritter) has its roots in Malaysia's coastal Malay communities, where fishing is a way of life. I am bringing this delicious street food snack to Feast World Kitchen this Sunday, August 18.

A real treat for Nasi Lemak lovers!
Photo below is the Nasi Lemak Combo - Aromatic pandan, lemongrass infused coconut rice served with Shrimp Sambal and Chicken Rendang with cucumbers, roasted peanuts, hard boiled egg, and fried anchovies. Extra spicy sambal (chili gravy) available upon request.

Other appetizing menu items include:
+ Cucur Udang or Shrimp Fritters with Salad, drizzle with chili sauce or creamy peanut sauce. Vegetarian option available
+ Bubur Cha Cha - a medley of sweet potatoes, taro, tapioca gluten bits, red rubies (water chestnuts bits coated with chewy tapioca starch), and tapioca pearls in a mildly sweet and creamy coconut broth. Served cold with a dash of coconut sugar syrup.

Thank you, , for hosting our yearly mandatory meeting today! Huge shoutout to Dr. David for facilitating the connections, the Tech team, and to everyone who participated, whether in person or online. FEAST, a warm gathering place bringing people together, is the perfect spot to remind us of our humanity and dedication to our community. Keep up the amazing work, team!

Our daughter, Yasmin LOVES Nasi Lemak. She is studying at a university in Michigan and this is her favorite food from Malaysia. In this video, Yasmin shows how nasi lemak is typically eaten by mixing everything together. The fragrant of the pandan, lemongrass and coconut milk infused rice is mixed with the spicy, tangy and sweet Shrimp Sambal (chili gravy). A spoonful of this mixture with all the complimentary condiments gives you an explosion of flavors. You get the spices, crunch of peanuts, saltiness from the fried anchovies, and cucumber to cool down the heat of the chili. It's no wonder Nasi Lemak is eaten all day in Malaysia and considered the national food of the country.

I will be serving Nasi Lemak at Feast World Kitchen on Sunday, August 18. Mark your calendar and join my team and I on a gastronomic adventure exploring some delicious dishes from Malaysia.

Suwanee of Simply Suwanee is having a get together at the Spokane Public Library in Shadle this Sunday, August 4th. She will share photos and talk about the projects she and her group of volunteers have done for the leprosy village in Thailand.

Come join her and meet up with people who shared her humanitarian efforts. She will also be offering some Thai food samplers. If interested, please do RSVP so we will know the number of attendees.

Have you ever eaten Chicken Curry Stir Fry with Vegetables? Alice and Shane will be offering one of the most favorite Malaysia street food using curry paste to wok fry the chicken pieces and vegetables. You set the heat level and Shane will "wok hei" this delicious dish on steamed rice. Drizzle with some coconut cream and topped with crunchy peanuts and cilantro. A side of acar (pickled vegetable) to tame the heat. Complete this meal with Coconut Jackfruit Sago dessert.

Another sushi roll on the menu this Sunday, July 14 at Feast World Kitchen.

Smokey Salmon ~ Handcrafted sushi rice on nori (seaweed sheet) wrapped around smoked salmon, cream cheese, and avocado. Rolled on salmon and nori flakes, and roasted sesame seeds. Topped with spicy mayonnaise and tobiko (flying fish roe). Smokey Salmon Roll sits on drizzle of delicious unagi sauce.

The Sushi Sunday is finally happening! This is a photo taken last month when Shane, Joe and I came together to roll up some sushi for our test run.

We have just posted our menu online at Feast World Kitchen.
Japanese spring rolls for appetizer followed by our fun and contemporary twists of some favorite sushi in Spokane. Enjoy them with green tea and finish off the meal with Taiyaki, Japanese fish-shaped dessert (similar to waffle) with red bean paste filling. We are also offering real wasabi purchased from Hokkaido, Japan for anyone interested in getting the real taste of wasabi with our sushi.

Hello everyone! Shane and I will be serving Chicken Curry with Vegetables at The The Spokane Farmers' Market this Saturday from 9am to 1pm.

Tender slices of chicken breast in a creamy yellow curry with sweet potatoes and vegetables. Enjoy the scrumptious combination of this curry mixture with pandan and lemongrass infused Jasmine rice. 2/5 spice heat level. Option for spicier level available.
GF, DF (nut free) Vegetarian option available.

I couldn't find a job relating to my former field of work (I owned a graphic and web design company in Malaysia) when I first came to Spokane. It took me over a year to finally get a job as a part time sales associate with minimum wage. As much as I wanted to work hard, the hours were few in-between and I wasn't motivated.

Then I discovered Feast World Kitchen and contacted Maisa, co-founder of this organization. I started cooking at Feast last June!

And look at me today! The experience ignited my passion for cooking again. I use all the skills I picked up running a fine dining Thai fusion restaurant in Phuket, Thailand into the food I made at Feast. It wasn't easy; food safety and regulations standard became a priority. Cooking an individual dish per fine dining method is totally different than cooking in a regular restaurant. I have to relearn from scratch. Feast "babysat" me on my first few cooking sessions. The mentoring and after cooking progress reports helped improve my overall performance in the kitchen. I am grateful for the huge supports from team and volunteers. Without them, without Feast, I won't have the chance to cook and share my Malaysian dishes with people of Spokane.

SeraiMas is a journey I'm traveling with pride, gratitude and humbleness. Pride for being able to overcome obstacles and bring delicious Malaysian food to the table. Gratitude for the opportunities I've been given and friends that I know will stand by me. Humbled by the gift of volunteerism by staffs and volunteers at Feast to make every cooking day I had a success. I'm humbled for great food reviews and supports of friends/families.

My life today is richer because I have this opportunity to cook. It gives me tremendous pleasure when people enjoyed my food. It can be an exhausting work BUT this gives me a lot of personal satisfaction. I am bringing my heritage and culture, honoring my late mom and women in my family by cooking the dishes we all love.

So from the bottom of my heart, Terima Kasih (Thank You). I'm living my dreams and making memories along the way. Come join me. ❤️

I am very blessed to be a part of Feast World Kitchen community. This video is produced by Max Delsid and John Harrison, two filmmakers from Spokane. They captured perfectly what Feast is all about - empowering immigrants and former refugees to be independent, stand tall and reach for our dreams and goals in life. Feast is FAMILY.

Our good friend, chef Suwanee Lennon is going to be cooking at Feast World Kitchen this Wednesday, June 05. I have been helping her with prep work. Proceeds from the sales on Wednesday will go into helping her leprosy village in Thailand where she grew up for the first 13 years of her life.

Shane and I are planning to visit the village in November to support Suwanee's mission before we head to Bali to build a computer lab for a school. More information will be provided in later part of the year.

For now, please come support Suwanee at Feast and enjoy some great, authentic Thai food.

Hi everyone!

I will be cooking at Feast World Kitchen (a Spokane restaurant featuring rotating chefs from around the world) next Wednesday, June 5th. It’s my first time cooking there and proceeds from the sales will be going towards my project of feeding the elderly with leprosy in my Thai village this June. Im also trying to raise funds to help a family of five, living in the leprosy village too, to finish building a home before the monsoon season gets here. (Monsoon season: June-September).

Have you tried Malaysian Mee Goreng? I have a special treat for you tomorrow at The Spokane Farmers' Market Coeur d'Alene Park, Browne's Addition. Tomorrow's version will see lots of vegetables for vegetarian lovers and tender slices of chicken thighs for those opting meat. A touch of curry paste, the noodles will be "wok hei" over high heat on our woks to create a distinctive flavor unique to the Malaysian Mee Goreng. Comes drizzle with spicy sambal (chili paste - optional) or sambal shrimp paste (optional).

Mango Pineapple drink for those who are thirsty! Come hungry!

Feast World Kitchen community is one of the best places to be. I'm here at the Perry's Street Farmers Market learning from Chef Isa Varela and her husband how to set up a pop up food booth. People are waiting in line, taking order numbers for her delicious Mexican food.
