We’ve seen a few questions about some of the schedule changes for this year’s celebration, so we’d like to provide a few simple answers.
Why are the fireworks on Friday night instead of Saturday night?
The simple answer is: why not?
More importantly, finding a fireworks vendor that was available on July 4th was not possible. We also became aware that one of our valued Chamber members, the brewery, was hosting an event Saturday night. Rather than competing with another community event, we chose to join forces and encourage visitors and Shinerites alike to attend the Half Moon after-party at the brewery featuring the Emotions Reunion Show.
In fact, the Chamber plans to continue the celebration there, and we hope many of you will join us.
You may also notice that many of this year’s events are concentrated on Friday evening and nighttime hours. The reason is simple…..we’re trying to beat the Texas summer heat. We know it’s hot, and we’re hopeful these adjustments will make the festival more enjoyable for participants, volunteers, and spectators alike.
The parade time was adjusted for the same reason. Even a few degrees can make a difference for those participating and attending.
We are always willing to answer questions, but please know that the Chamber Board and Half Moon Committee have already spent countless hours weighing the pros and cons, working within budgets, coordinating schedules, and doing our very best to create a great festival experience for our community.
We truly believe this year’s celebration will be a great one.
And if you’d like to help make it even better, there are always seats available at our Half Moon Committee table. We welcome helping hands, fresh ideas, and anyone who wants to be part of continuing this tradition for years to come.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to celebrating with you!
