As bearfoot cookers so eloquently put it… We localed the s**t out of this cook off! We drove the whopping 6 miles down I-35 to go to the ! It was cold, it was windy, but turned out to be a BEAUTIFUL Saturday! We walked away with 2nd place dessert 🍮 , 11th beans 🫘, 4th chicken 🐓, 5th ribs 🐖, 1st pork 🐷, and 1st Brisket 🐄. Earning us a Grand Championship with a 781.02! Congrats to mood grill who drove up from Mexico on their RGC! A HUGE congrats to Ruff’D UP BBQ on that PERFECT score dessert! This time… Cheesecake lost!

There’s a first time for everything… and there were a LOT of firsts that happened this past weekend at the 23rd annual Guadalupe Co. Fair Association BBQ cook off. As returning champs, we were being gunned for… and that was obviously what we needed. With the pressure on, we were ecstatic checking each and every box! Our FIRST time to get all 4 proteins on the same page and walk in all of them. Our FIRST time to walk in EVERY category. Our FIRST time to hear our song EIGHT TIMES in a single cook off. Our FIRST Reserve Grand Champion! 27 teams showed up and showed out! Congrats to on his 3rd time to GC this cook off! He got us by 0.82 of a point… SO CLOSE! Big congrats around the country to our BBQ family that had their numbers called or songs played!

We do one… MAYBE two non sanctioned cook-offs a year. This is the ONE, Comal County fair that we will always come back to. First, because it’s our home town. Second, because this is where our love affair with BBQ began almost 10 years ago. This year, we walked away 4th overall… but Adam Luna , we are coming for you next year 😂! We got our steps in with a 4th place Chicken 🐓, 5th place Ribs 🐖, 🤷🏻‍♀️ on Brisket, 3rd place Dessert, & 11th place Beans! During and after awards, we had 2 separate people come find us, one to let us know that they don’t know why on earth we got a 3rd Dessert because it was “the most amazing thing I had ever put in my mouth. I had to take the remainder and hide it because EVERYONE wanted a bite… would you be willing to share your recipe? 🙏🏼” and the other to let us know that 4th place chicken call was “BS because that was BY FAR the BEST chicken of the day. Keep that recipe going because it was fantastic!” All in all, stellar weekend, got some steps in, and we’ll see ya next year! Congrats to Adam Luna for his GC (for like the 3rd time) and All Sauced Up BBQ Team on their RGC!

Day 2 of 2: Man it was MUGGY! We ended the day with a 20th chicken 🐔 *Stupid Chicken, 14th ribs 🤷🏻‍♀️, 4th pork 🐽, 10th brisket, for an 11th overall. Congrats to Bullhorn BBQ on their RGC, and Robert A. Smith on their GC! We ended the evening with a rare opportunity to see and ride on an over 100 year old carousel that has been entrusted to the Giddings VFD! For being an old girl… she had a lot more pep in her step than we expected, truly an honor to have that opportunity! and the Giddings VFD… Y’all killed it! We’ll see you next year!
