🇺🇸 Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday… with my love language. ❤️🤍💙

If you know me, you know I celebrate the best way I know how… by making something sweet to share.

This year that meant patriotic striped cakes, red, white & blue layered jello treats (these are not cottage food approved and made for a family celebration) , and a few little patriotic sprinkle cookies.

✨ Can you spot the glitter stars hidden in the blue jello? They add just a little sparkle to the celebration!

🍪🎡 Sugarfest is almost here, and Mellie’s Bakehouse is joining the celebration! 🎡🍪

I’m so excited to be part of the Sugar Festival Pop-Up Market & Open House at Rose Island Originals alongside some truly amazing local makers and small businesses. If you love shopping local, supporting small businesses, and enjoying a fun afternoon in our community, this is an event you won’t want to miss!

Some weekends fill your order book. Some weekends fill your heart. ❤️

Yesterday, I had the privilege of volunteering at Sebewaing’s Cops & Bobbers event alongside some of the best humans on the planet.

In the days leading up to the event, my kitchen was filled with fish, bobbers, hearts, and a whole lot of icing. By the time it was all said and done, I had baked, decorated, individually sealed, and donated approximately 20 dozen cookies for the kids and families attending.

But this wasn’t a one-person effort.

My daughter spent the day volunteering at the event, my husband jumped in to help package what felt like an endless number of cookies, and my sons “helped” with packing everything up in their own special ways. ❤️ It was a family effort from start to finish, and those are the moments I’ll remember most.

I don’t share this because I’m looking for recognition. I share it because social media often shows the finished product and not the hands behind it—the late nights, tired feet, dirty dishes, teamwork, and love that go into serving a community.

At the same time, Mellie’s Bakehouse was honored to create a memorial cake celebrating a life well lived, along with a graduation cake, cupcakes, and cake pops for a family celebrating a major milestone.

This weekend reminded me that baking isn’t really about cookies or cake. It’s about people. It’s about showing up for celebrations, supporting community events, honoring memories, and creating small moments of joy.

Today, I’m exhausted, but my heart is incredibly full.

Thank you to everyone who supports Mellie’s Bakehouse and to all the volunteers, organizers, sponsors, and families who make events like Cops & Bobbers possible. Sebewaing is a special place, and I’m grateful to be part of it. ❤️🎣🍪

Over the last year, I’ve been working on finding more balance in my own life.

One thing I’ve learned? Everything doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
