Ch-ch-ch-CHANGES!
I’m now ready to divulge what’s been going on with Ovens to Betsy. As I announced in July, I purchased the commercial kitchen in Lynnwood that I had been renting since the first of the year. But what does that mean? For starters, I’ve taken over the rental contract for 3 tenants and will be offering up the kitchen to other tenants as well. This is not a large part of my business as I am a heavy user of the kitchen. Mostly I’ll be renting to start-up food entrepreneurs who just need a few hours a week as they grow their businesses.
I’m still continuing my meal delivery service but have culled my client list to include only my longest term clients. I will not be taking on any new clients, nor will I replace those who decide to stop the service. I may eventually wind down the personal chef side of things entirely, but I hope not to have to do so. I cherish the relationships I have with my clients — most of whom have been with me for years. (One client had a 2 1/2 year old daughter when I began cooking for them; she just got her driver’s license today!!!) But when I bought the business I also took over the wholesale side where I provide two kinds of vegetarian burritos: quinoa (quinoa, carrots, celery, vegetarian sausage, Mexican cheese & egg in a soft tortilla); black bean (black beans, brown rice, corn, salsa verde, red salsa, Mexican cheese and sunflower seeds in a soft tortilla); vegetarian breakfast sandwiches (multi-grain English muffins, pesto, fresh spinach, vegetarian sausage, egg, fresh mozzarella); gluten-free, vegan granola (oats, flax seed, chia seed, coconut oil, walnuts, pepitas, slivered almonds, apricots, cranberries, golden raisins & coconut flakes) and four kinds of vegan, gluten-free cookies (double fudge, oatmeal chocolate chip, peanut butter, confetti) to local coffee shops. I’m also developing a southwestern quinoa burrito (quinoa, Hatch chiles, egg, vegetarian sausage, roasted corn, pinto beans, pepper Jack & sharp cheddar in a soft tortilla).
Here’s where you can find my products:
Edmonds:
Walnut Street Coffee — quinoa burritos, black bean burritos, breakfast sandwiches, cookies, granola
Harbor Square (smoothie bar within the Harbor Square Athletic Club) — quinoa & black bean burritos
Waterfront Coffee — quinoa burritos, cookies
Woodinville:
Sidekick Coffee — quinoa burritos, peanut butter cookies
Seattle:
Monkey Grind Espresso — quinoa burritos, cookies
Bellingham:

It’s been a whirlwind since I closed on the business but I’m absolutely loving it. If you know of any independent coffee shops who would like to expand their food offerings, please send them my way!
