With Thanksgiving on the horizon, we’re reflecting on what it means to support our community. This month, we’re partnering with Seattle Backpack Brigade, a nonprofit that provides weekend meal bags for local students in need.⁠

Backpack Brigade serves more than 100 King County schools and feeds over 5,000 kids every week, giving students something dependable to rely on when school isn’t in session.⁠

Hunger makes it harder for kids to stay healthy, focused, and ready to learn. It can lead to lower test scores, increased absences, and added stress. Reliable meals help shift that trajectory and give kids a better chance to succeed.⁠

We raised $7,600 for Seattle Backpack Brigade! 🥳

This October, Evergreens partnered with catcher Cal Raleigh and our PNW community to fight childhood hunger. Together, we raised enough to fund more than 1,000 weekend meal bags for local students across King County! 💚

To close out the campaign, our team rolled up our sleeves at Backpack Brigade’s S**O warehouse, joining their crew to pack meal bags. Huge thanks to our friends at Charlie's Produce , who volunteered alongside us and donated 1,000 pieces of fruit to brighten those bags.

With more families navigating reduced food benefits, the need in our community has only deepened. Evergreens is continuing our support for Backpack Brigade through November to help ensure local students have access to the meals they need.

Seattle Backpack Brigade makes sure local kids don’t go hungry when school cafeterias close for the weekend. Many students rely on free lunch during the week, and Backpack Brigade fills the gap with meal bags that fuel learning (and play! ⚾️).⁠

Every Friday, when students head to lunch, a bag is quietly slipped into their backpack, free of charge and filled with three breakfasts, three lunches, three dinners, and three snacks to last them through the weekend.⁠

Each year, Backpack Brigade delivers 1.7 million meals to 5,100+ kids across 100+ schools in Seattle, Bellevue, Renton, Highline, and beyond, ensuring children throughout King County have what they need to thrive.⁠

This October, we’re proud to step up to the plate alongside Cal Raleigh to support their mission. For every Call Me CAL-iente wrap ordered at Evergreens, $1 is donated automatically to Backpack Brigade.
