Yesterday there was a spectacular cloud over the Wasatch Mountains that caught my attention. The underside of it had a dirty color even though most of it was pure white. A wildfire burning to the north east of Salt Lake City was billowing up its own storm system. As the sun went down, there was a large red glow coming from the source of the fire so I decided to drive to a place where I could safely see it from a distance. It’s beautiful and terrifying at the same time. The closest I got was to within about seven miles. Didn’t want to be any closer anyway. Change of wind direction can make that kind of a situation go from safe to get the hell out of here very quickly. I’ll take another look tonight and hope that it doesn’t get any closer to people’s homes or property. I have a good friend who lives in a small town that could literally be in the line of fire today.

Despite the dry winter, the wildflowers are pretty amazing this summer. I shot some mountain biking on Bonanza Flats with my friends from JANS Experts and White Pine Touring a week ago. It was such a great way to escape the heat in the valley and get a little exercise in the process.

Meet my new friend Duke. He’s the latest addition to the avalanche dog family at Deer Valley Resort . He and his dad Luke are just getting started on training to rescue avalanche victims. So if you were caught in a slide, Duke could be the first face you see. Hopefully he never has to search for a real victim and instead just has a career of training and games. But if the worst happens, these two will give 💯 % to save you!

These are from a fun project that I shot a few weeks ago. This is a Twelve Air. Custom car from the ground up. Looks like an early Corvette but this isn’t a restoration, it was made from raw aluminum. F1 type suspension, 12 cylinder engine. Absolutely beautiful.

With the short winter, mountain bike season at started early this summer. There are from opening day. I had an incredible group of riders to rip the tech trails. Pretty challenging terrain but they made it look like a walk in the park.

Well, our earned her masters from and is ready to tackle her next musical adventure. Don’t know if it will be jumping into the working world or going abroad to give her sound just a little more refinement. We can’t wait to see where the road takes her. I’m just constantly amazed by her. Congratulations Zoe!

This past weekend brought the 25/26 ski season to a close on the Wasatch. While powder days were rare, we had lots of sunny days and it’s hard to complain about that. I had a great time skiing and shooting with so many amazing people. That was something I truly missed last season when I lost a big part of the season with a knee injury. So being back this season, I truly appreciated every day. And despite this being a record low snow year, we were still able to find good skiing until the middle of May. I left the slopes with a huge smile every day. Thanks for the turns everyone! Now the countdown begins to the 26/27 season!

Looking back at a sunny spring day of shooting at with . Powder days were a rare treat this past season but it’s pretty hard to beat sunny groomer days with perfect temps. And even better with Deer Valley’s new terrain.

Lots of sunny days this winter meant powder turns were a little more rare but I still managed to capture a few. This is .gilmore getting after it at in some of new terrain. We just had a small sample this season but I can’t wait to dig into the full course powder meal next season. .ski.outdoor

I shot these at just before the start of the ski season. While big powder days were a little more rare than usual, it was still a fun winter. Sunny spring like days are hard to complain about and Deer Valley did an amazing job of picking up where Mother Nature dropped the ball. After missing a good part of last season with a torn ACL, I savored every single run, every turn and every single lift ride with friends. Now I’m counting the days until next winter!
